its 5% dark ass tint. i've been doing ok with it lately, but i get paranoid whenever a cop comes up the road. also, driving in a dim parking lot is a bitch. i've almost hit cars before. the great thing is i can make faces at people and they can't see me.

I actually liked it better with no tint....I had the 5% thing and I had a few problems with the police and wuteva-I also had to drive with the windows down at night.

I mean it was cool being able to do wuteva I wanted in the car and not have to worry about anyone being able to see but still I plan on keeping the G tintless to show off the leather....

yeah, just don't let that baby sit out in the hot A$$ sun cuz it will fade the interior of your car. That is why alot of people get tint in the 1st place, to protect the cars interior.

Im going 50% all around. Got a white G, and I dont like dark tint on white cars, it'll protect the leather plus you'll still be able to see the leather...

I have 35%. it is light in the day and pretty dark at night.

exactly what im doing...i want the tint to be visible but not like messing up your view at night...my only problem is u cant roll with the windows open for 5 days...DAMN! i dont think ive ever gone that long when its over 60 with the windows closed...especially that my A/C doesnt work that well when its really hot.

Ill have to do it one day when my rents are out of town so i can roll in my dads a6:monkey:

i couldn't roll down my windows for 4 days, but atleast it was cool weather. 5% is bad ass in my opinion. it sets the car off and looks really clean. plus it keeps my interior a little cooler when its sunny out and i don't have to use my a/c that much.

here in WA, tint is a secondary offense so they can't pull you over just for tint. while i couldn't roll down my windows, i just drove like a normal person and kept my sunroof visor open.

50% not a bad idea-esp. since U can still see the inside.....but I do disagree with U on the white car and dark tint comment...

damn...limo tint looks gangster

a little too dark for me though. i have 35% which is just right. its kinda cool cuz my car is millenium jade and with the sun out and my sun roof shade open, the tint has a green tint to it from the reflection of my car.

but your car looks clean man.

I think 35% gives you the best of both worlds. Looks dark from angles, but you can still see good at night. And no cops have bothered me so far - considering the tint laws in NY and NJ are ridiculous.

My friend got pulled over and the cop said, "I'm going to take the tint off these front windows with you, right now."

Pretty insane.

Oh yeah - looks hot as hell blacked out :)

And they actually sat there and pulled it off? I woulda jus took the fix it ticket...

May 21, 03, 10:34 AM
no fix it tickets here. If you do get a ticket it's a "court apperance required" ......if the judge is a dick he will take the prosecuter or balif out to your car to make SURE the tint is OFF. And if you didn't bring your car, then they reschedule your court appearance....pretty messed up.

But usually they're too busy and don't check the car. But it's happened b4.

My current G is the first car I've had that I didn't put tint on. Every other car I've ever owned had the film on it within a couple weeks of buying, but, I've gone a year now with out tint. It took me some time to get used to, but now, I don't think I'll go back. For me, the cons to tint out wiegh the pros. But, I'm also older, and I don't "do" anything in my car that the out side world can't see anymore... As far as leather care, I don't think the tint protects it nearly as much as cleaning and conditioning the leather regularly does. The only tint I have on my car now is a visor strip that's about 9" long on the windsheild. Other then that, Krystal Kleer... But I like how yours turned out for sure bro! :)

silver car?! you should have went w/ a mirror tint. :P I've had my windows tinted like that for about a year now and haven't been hassled by any cops... maybe just because i work at starbucks and hooked them up.... lol... anyways, all of the guys i know from SJPD said my windows were fine. :)

Go 50% all around, that way it's still see through, but looks nice & classy at the same time...

car looks good, but i think dark tint looks best on black and red cars. i have limo on the back and 35% on the front. it looks really smooth, though i wish i could go darker on the front... damn california laws :tired:

Is 50% even worth it? Can you even notice a difference...? The main thing that I like right now with my Kleers, is, that they really are crystal clear... After a good detail job you know, when inside my ride, it feels like my window are down, even though they're not, just cause they're so damn clean... and I like that... but with tint, I always got little scratches, and after a couple years, it's not as clear through them it always seems... Plus, every single damn time I've taken it in to be tinted, no matter what shop I've gone to, without fail, one defroster strip on my rear windsheild doesn 't work anymore... and that just drives me NUTS!!!! :D

I was thinking bout 35% tints also. Do you still have to roll down the window to see at night with 35%?

I also heard that with metallic tints, your view is not as obstructed by the darkness of the tint. Is this a misconception?

i dont have to roll down the window and mine is 15%. 35% is the legal tint you can have, it's really light. metallic tints are kinda ricey, and i dont know too much about them, but there is a thread somewhere about tint laws. try that!:square:

May 21, 03, 10:24 PM
35% is legal n most places, its kinda light but it keeps the sun out. you can still see through it even at night
15% is nice because it makes it a little hard for ppl to see in until they get close, might get pulled over in some states
5% is illegal in most states, hard as hell to see in or out. but it looks good on black cars. ive had it on 2 cars.
ill still to 35% for now

Ugh.. How is a metalic tint ricey? Mirror, yeah, I can see, but just metallic? My P10 had a copper mettalic 35% tint on it, and is was far, far from rice! It was too nice for that G to be honest... I can't believe you call it ricey. Not to mention metallic tint is guranteed to never fade, and reduces light far better then a standard charcoal tint. I think you aren't thinking of the right kinda tint when you say ricey. I think you're thinking of mirror tint...

Dont trip bro, it's becoming a trend to call anything you don't like or don't know much about "ricey"...I still want my 50% all around...

I had limo too back in the days, i did these mods to the car the first week i had it. The 3rd day i got the tints, i couldnt see for shit and i couldnt roll down the windows. I was picking up my girl when i first started dating her and her dad was outside giving me dirty looks and i didnt notice the next door neighbors mailbox, I broke it in half backing up. So be VERY careful with them. I had mines on for a year until i went up to Ft. Myers HICK VILLE and some redneck white cop pulled me over off duty. HEHE Mines were 3% though. When you get a ticket get QUANTUM's 35% when light hits them you cant see inside.

I know... the more I hear people say rice, the more I don't like the term... it's a pretty lame term... I'm not trippin or nothin though... it's just tough to hear somone say something is rice and that they don't know much about that something in the same sentance!

Oh, and damn Dom! You still with her? Does her pops like you now? Did he see you run over the mail box??? :)

Seriously, your right MP, it's just getting old... Rice this and Rice that... blah blah blah... who cares!? Do we really have to label everything as "rice"? Cant we just say it doesn't look good? Or give suggestions of what may be better, but, rice is just a lame term that is way to broad... doesn't help anyone out, and it's kinda snobbish I feel...
