: Where is your idle when a/c is running?

I know how on DE-equipped cars, the idle jumps to around 1000 rpm with the a/c on. Is the same supposed to happen with VE-equipped cars? When I switch on my a/c my idle stays at around 750-850, and sometimes jumps from 750-1000-750-1000-repeats, then back down to 750-850 rpm.

My understanding is that the a/c compressor doesn't function unless the idle is at/above 1000 rpm. And here in Orlando...we need a/c. So, my problem is that the air is sometimes cold and sometimes less than cold. I think whatever controls the idle is not allowing the a/c to run as it should.

check your FICD that designates the idle when the AC is on. Have you set your idle speed through consult?

Well, I reset the idle speed with the Conzult. It helped for a few days, but the idle hunting is back. I guess I'll have to remove the idle control device next and get it clean.

Have you adjusted the cold Idle valve?
