I have a cable modem through Time Warner Cable Road Runner and I love the speed. It cost $44.95 a month and is well worth it. I want to know what internet connection others have at home.

I have DSL for $34.99 a month, provided by Verizon. I had them for over 2years, they give great service and in the last two years or so I only experienced about 5 downtimes, and most it was mostly at like 3am.;)

interesting, in my experience, the $19.95 or $29.95 deals around here are for only 1, 2, 3 or max of 4 years and then it goes up to like $40 or $50 per month...

I pay the least amount possible with my dial up...

i actually work for road runner as a tech support field technician. if you have to reset the "cable modem" constantly to get the connection back it is either a bad modem or the signal coming through the coax cable is not within certain specs so you should call and have a technician come out and check it. even before i got road runner i had a cable modem through Charter and i had similar problems that were resolved when a cable technician came out and fixed a problem at the cable box

if you have a "router" in addition to the cable modem you want to take your router out of the loop and see if you still have to reset the modem every so often and if so then once again it is either a bad modem or a signal issue. don't forget that the network card in your computer can also work off and on or intermitant so it's not always a problem with the service itself

hope that helps, and any broadband service whether cable or dsl is the way to go

Yep, same here...although, the upload time sucks when moving large files...and I only have a connection at work...at home, no connection for me.

But my problem is that I bought a shitbox wireless router for $40 that always crashes. Its worth it though, with the little Dell pocket PC I can check Yankee scores from anywhere in the house.

Bellsouth ADSL at ~$45 a month.

it's damn fast (T1 downstream) and it rarely ever fails, I'm fairly sure it eats the pants off of the local cable. Only thing is, my cable friends can get up to 300KB/s, when I hit my max at like 150KB/s, but thats only when they're lucky.
