yes it is. it is a fix-it ticket if you get caught. i got one in my suburban. mine is on my dash in the G but a guy bumped into me and broke the holder. i like it off better of so i just tell the cops that im waiting for the part in the mail. hahaha, ya i dont know why i see alot of cars that have no where to put the plates but they are supposed to have them.

It is indeed illegal and as macid said, they issue fix-it tickets. It's very funny how the high end cars from BMW and Mercedes always drive without one yet never get pulled over while those in the beat up Honda's and lower end cars get noticed the most and are the ones being pulled over.

I think it has more to do with the crackdown on *ricers* and F&F's. Sad to say, Cali seems to have an unwritten "strategy" if you will that seems to be somewhat discriminating. As you said, "high-end cars" that are stock don't have a front license plate seem to go unnoticed where as compacts and imports seem to get a lot of attetion from the law. Most of the high-end cars have those bright as hell Xenons stock, where as if some compact or import has some aftermartket HID's, somehow that illegal......:monkey:

Figure that one out.:tired:

No front plate here, and I live in Cali. Illegal, yep, but oh well. Whoever said the part about the unwritten law in CA where high end cars are overlooked, you are right! My dad is a cop and he told me that just after 2fast 2 furrious came out they were put on a detail. They pulled over any car that looked as though it had been modified to be a street racer. So with a G20 we are kinda on the border of the high end car type deal, but because I love my car you better believe it is a high end car (in my mind) so I get over looked and I love it.

Thank god in PA they don't give front license plates. But every time I go into New Jersey I have cops that ask me at times why I don't have a front plate. I tell them that PA does not give it, what do you want me to do about it?

And when I lived in California, my dad's vette did not have the front license plate. No one ever said anything to him, but our other cars had to have the front plate. Otherwise Ticket!
