Yea montecristos with a torpede tip. I think it was actually the number one cigar in the world last year or the year before. I have never smoked one but the guys I caddy for say pretty much any cuban is very good or any high end. It is all personal taste really gotta try them all and find a favortie.

You'll be best served by avoiding buying them in Arkansas, New York, or from a silver-haired pudgy guy binging at McDonalds who claims he's got an El Camino with astroturf in the bed.

After the embargo placed on Cuba by the US, many cigar companies in Cuba split with some workers staying in Cuba and some going to the Dominican Republic so they could still sell the cigars legally in the US. The quality of the cigars is essentially the same between the Cubans and the Dominicans. Although I must say, I have smoked cubans before (cruise ship) and they have an indescribable kick to them that Dominicans don't. By kick I mean intoxicating effect. Dominican Cohibas are top quality, as well as Ashtons, Partagas, Romeo y Juliets, Punch, and many others. My favorite cigar is perhaps the Macanudo Hyde Park. Nice flavor, not too strong, and not too big either, it's probably a 45 minute smoke, as opposed to some churchills that take 2 hours to smoke. Macanudos are made in Jamaica and have a unique characteristic that I have yet to see in another marque. Macanudos don't leave that cigar aftertaste in your mouth the next morning, yet still have a good flavor.
If you're just starting out, pick out a moderately priced cigar with a lighter colored leaf. This basically signifies a milder flavored cigar. Don't go smoking a near-black leaf cigar, as you'll probably dislike smoking them in the future.
Have fun.

ARTURO FUENTES (+150 YEARS), MONTECRISTO (+150 YEARS) AND E. LEON JIMENEZ (+100 YEARS)

These are our best cigars, and worldwide according to Cigar Magazine and Cigar Gurus...

Cusano Hermanos are my fave...inexpensive and go great with a hard scotch or whisky. The AVO line is my next favorite.
