I decided I wanted to maintain a pretty stock look on the inside of my G... I was on a quest for a cd-changer that would plug right into the factory head unit, but saw that it would be between 300 (eBay) and 600 (dealer).

I found a 2001 QX4 Headunit (with in dash 6 disk), that had the same conectors as ours at a junk yard for 200. Well... it had the same contacotrs but had a diferent size.. After alittle work with the dremal, it fit...

Secondly about a week later a friend of mine got sirius, and a headunit. So I went a quest to get sirius, without buying a new head unit. I found this kenwood unit at sound track and the total cost was $125 (74 for the head unit, 50 for the antena, and a free tuner).

I am loving sirius NO Comercials, and cd quality, every where!!!

I'm thinking about getting Sirius also. I already have a Kenwood head unit (X659) that's Sirius Ready so I just need a Tuner and Antenna.

It looks like XM is cheaper AND has more channels though. So I'm wondering if I should just get a stand alone XM unit. Maybe that car and home one they've been advertising...

But then If I go that route...maybe I should just get an iPod. My cousin has an iPod setup in his car and it's pretty good also. His unit is a 40Gig and that's just more space than I can think of using. Plus you can take the iPod along with you for working out, etc...

I think I'll end up with Siriuus though since it'll be the least amount of work.

Decisions, decisions. Is this really essential to our survival in the hunter-gatherer sense of the word? No. What are we then? We're, uh, you know, consumers. Right. We're consumers. We are by-products of a lifestyle obsession. Murder, crime, poverty—these things don't concern me. What concerns me are celebrity magazines, television with 500 channels, some guy's name on my underwear. Rogaine, Viagra, Olestra. Fuck Martha Stewart. Martha's polishing the brass on the Titanic. It's all going down, man. So fuck off with your sofa units and Strinne green stripe patterns. I say, never be complete. I say, stop being perfect. I say, let's evolve. Let the chips fall where they may. ;)

Evolution: homo-erectus then homo-sapiens now homo-consumus

Hunter-gatherer? You hunt for a sound system then gather it right? Food, shelter, tunes...have I left out any of lifes essentials?

Quite true, I stand corrected. So I guess there are five basic elements in the universe: food, shelter, tunes, booze, and babes.

Wait a minute, isn't booze one of the four basic food groups?

hey that looks fantastic!

..and welcome to the wonderful world of Sirius.. I'm on my 2nd generation equipment now and loving it..

I even signed up for a lifetime Sirius Subscription today... ...mainly because I was so impressed after having it for 11 months.. and I knew that I won't be buying anything new for at least 3 to 4 years now that I have a brand new head unit installed with the newest generation equipment.

That free Sirius tuner is a deal until the end of this year.. the lifetime sub offer is only valid until 1.31.04
