View Full Version : Sometimes I forget...

So, the G is not my first lowered car, but it's one that I've owned the longest for sure. I sometimes forget how much of a diffrence both cosmetically and mechanically installing suspension components make. For fun I pulled stock photos of a G20 and posted em here above my car, man, I can't believe what a diffrence there is! I forget sometimes... anyways... just a post for fun...

I almost forget myself. I never took pics of my car before I lowered it, but I'm reminded by pics like you posted and the stock G20's I see on the road from time to time. Yes, it is a big difference.

It's not that bad, the above car is taking a curve. Your car looks nice lowered though. I have always wondered what it would be like to lower my ride. My car is a daily driver and my wife and son's are often with me. I have also been concerned with premature wear of the other stock suspension components. I have a set of KYB GR-2's that will serve to replace the stock struts and shocks when I get a chance.:cheeky:

Nope, if you look, no driver, it's just parked on the curve. Besides, the way the car is sposed to look like it's turning, that side of the car would be dipping down while the other side (drivers side) would be lifting up... That's how they pretty much sit stock though, (the P11's anyways)... a NON-t looks lower then a T because the T's come with 195/60/15's where as the non-t's have 195-65-15's which adds an inch to the tire/wheelwell gap making a non-t look lower then a t...

Thanks! I love it... gonna look better with the 17's... should look exactly like 2k2g20's (but obviously a diffrent wheel) but I got the deep dish's like he does... can't wait for spring... :D

It's not out of reach! the teins are pretty cheap and honestly, once broken in, they basically feel like stock with a bit stiffer roll to the car... the wife and kids wouldn't even notice, I know my girl didn't really notice a diffrence...

Honestly, although my Koni's could use a little more adjustment to make it stiffer, The ride isn't as harsh as one would think. "G" is right about the Teins settling in which makes for a more comfy ride.

My wife and daughter don't mind, and my mother in law doesn't even know it's lowered when she rides in it. If she knew, I doubt if I could have ever gotten her into the car.

Why's that? She's against moddin? :D That's funny... my future mother in law rode in my P10 and I had this loud ol' Apex i muffler on it and she LOVED it! LOL! "Oh your car sounds so neat! what did you do?" Maybe she was just being nice... LOL! :D

2k2- I love the way your car looks bro! It's so clean! And that pic is awsome, as a matter of fact, this pic in this post, is my desktop here at work! :p The sail boats in the background are a dope touch... and hey, what is that out there, is that a battle ship or a cruise ship or something? Awsome pic...

Darn near-beach dwellers!! They get to enjoy the good weather, the pretty women in bikinis and nice picture backgrounds!! LOL :p

The drop on your car makes all the difference in the world between stock springs and the aftermarket ones G...
Looks really nice!! Now I know I wanna get the Teins again... ;)

I do love them bro... for the price, I honestly can't justify spendin all that dough on coil overs when the ride is so dam nice you know? Just yesterday I was admiring it and thinking how my car is less bouncy and still has more of a "luxury" feel then my girls Saturn! And that thing is stock, is a 2001 an only has 34k on it... and it bounces more then my car, has a rougher ride then my car, and my car sits like 4" lower then it! Can't beat that... and that's sayin a lot, cause for a saturn, it rides pretty nice... LOL! :D

just to throw in my 2c. G is right. the tein/gr2 combo is excellent. not a huge difference in ride quality from factory.

and just to add some before after pics of the same car...

LOL! :D I'm sure some more will show on E-bay, but if not, even at say $144 bucks (http://www.optauto.com/webstore/product_information.asp?number=TEIN-SKP08-AUB00&variation=&aitem=21&mitem=22&back=yes&dept=226) for what they are, that ain't bad... sounds like over seas they pay a LOT more then that... cant remember who but one of our UK brothas was look at some and couldn't believe how cheap they were goin over here for...

Ahhh yes a drop can do wonders....If U notice as the years have gone by cars are coming lower and lower stock from the dealer....BMWs have always had a nice stance..

Great thread G-ealousy...

Yeah, it's weird... look at the G35C's, they don't need a drop at all, they look pretty damn good how they are... an' you're right, Bmw's have always had good looks to their drop, they've always understood... :D

It's tough cause your P10 sits like mine did, almost like it doesn't need a drop, where as the p11 looks lifted compared to the P10.. but it'll still look way better dropped... :D

It's amazing that such a small change to the height of your car can give it such a better look.
With the extra of larger wheels/rims to fill the arch's you end up with a very sweet looking ride

Gealousy

For sure, it makes a huge diffrence, they just look so much more aggressive... I can't wait for my rims... :)
