Damn that felt like forever. I thought it was asking for donations again so I emptied my paypal account to the site :).

Anyone know what was changed?

Sorry for the outage. I was hoping it would only be a few hours but it ended up being a little over a day.

I needed to makes some changes to our DB that I didnt think was going to take so long. Didnt realize just how big it was getting. But anyway, I was getting about 200 emails a day with errors from the DB, so I had to get it done.

I managed to get it all done by Wednesday night (I started in the morning) but by the time I was done (1AM) I decided to leave the site offline for a few more hours and wait for the 5AM backup. On Thursday morning I tested a restore from backup (since we've never verified it to work). Once that was all done, we were back online.

So yeah, 6 hrs turned into 28... :p

Yes, congrats on the successful update, the site was missed.

However, when will you get around to the other things? Link of the month, sponsor status', etc. Oh, and when will you have time to begin answering peoples emails and PMs from like 4 months ago?

It seems that there was time to add a plug on the home page for a Canadian shop who's giving 1/2 off dyno runs, but that's about it.

I'm sure that the next time we're all in Ontario, we'll take advantage of a dyno run.

hey hey hey you guys, be NICE.

be glad that the site is still here. the link of the month and whatnot, that's small shit that you're not going to die without. be grateful that Gnet is here in the first place. i've run numerous websites over the years, though nothing as big as gnet, and i can tell you it is a bitch and a half to manage... give brian some credit!

If you only knew how much he's NOT doing, you'd be singing a different tune. I wasn't trying to be mean. I've donated, I've given to the site, I've tried to promote things, and not much is happening. I simply wanted to know when things were going to get fixed. That's all... The site is top notch!

Sorry it took so long to change your sponsor status. If you did not include your username with your donation I have no idea who it was from unless your email matches the one used here. If you emailed me at my g20.net address, yes, I dont read it. It's gotten to the point where I get 1 spam email every single minute of the day. I'm not in the same position I was 2 years ago. I have a very busy "life" and I simply do not have time to come home each night and search through 1500 emails that go to brian@g20.net every day and look for ones that are actually legitimate.

If there's something you'd like to talk to me about please send an email to: admin at g20 dot net. At least I only get a handful of spam there. That is also how I was emailed the 50% dyno offer which you were so sarcastic about. It's a conciderable savings and yes we do have quite a bit of Canadian visitors. The price is $27 US which is unbelievable. It's rare to see deals for members outside the US, so yes I felt the need to "plug" a shop. Not sure what's so wrong with that?

In regards to the other issues. No, I will not be working on them. I made it known to the other mods that I do not have time to work on the site. Nothing has been done since Sept. to rectify that situation. I dont have time to even visit the site much, let alone work on updating the content.

I'm being brutally honest here. Things will not change until G20.net finds a new home or someone implements a way to support it (I certainly do not have the time). Until then, the site will continue to work the way it has and we are once again due to run out of money in a few weeks time.

Just a suggestion.... maybe is there any way to make it so that another responsible party could manage things while you are out?

HEY!!! I've got a big suggestion for your first MOD on that 1.8t... a Carbinio Carbon Fiber Intake... my boyfriend has it on his 03 GTI and it sounds great!

..he's got turbo boost control too.. (computer programming changes)... makes the car 200 hp instead of just 180hp.. hehe

ahh! Awesome Chris, thanks!! I've been looking for a good intake and the vortex is too messy to even find the answer to my question...

I was thinking of the boost controller, but...I have the 01 which i believe has 157 WHP instead of 180. Still, its no slouch compared to many other cars..Its quick. I am planning on getting a GIAC chip which boosts the car up to 205 WHP...thats almost 50 hp, for 495!!! Wow, the VW modding world is great!!! I'll PM you tomorrow about the intake and other mods...Can't wait to pick up the car!

GIAC is a good choice :)

I sent you IM on the 'tex.... so we can keep the VW talk off the g20.net.. LOL

Ironically, I'd NEVER EVER donate funds to the 'tex much less help support the site like I do this wonderful g20.net site despite NOT having my g20 any more..

I met the owner of vwvortex(he's in chicagoland), and he is.. well, not what I expected and I'll leave it at that (but it does help make sense as to why the 'tex is the way it is... LOL)

Hey, maybe we can get enough former g20.net folks to move into VW and start our own vw.net.. LOL

P.S. You might want to check out www.club18t.com too ;)
