When you link to an image it will be displayed like this:
http://www.g20.net/jic/jic1.jpg
This is to cut down the loading time of threads so you dont have to load the picture. The user can click on the picture link if they'd like to view the picture.
It also keeps the tables from getting messed up when someone wants to show a picture which is wider than the forum.
To insert a link to an image, use the IMG button or manually type in the following code:
address to your image

But why does it have to be this way for sigs? Most people are intelligant enough not to put massive pics in their sigs.

I'm content with being able to have our own avatars. IMHO, that's good enough. It keeps things clean.

I will concider it, and am looking into a way of limiting the Signature IMG size.
As Geo stated though, it does make things cleaner, it's your signature after all. By default all users may use an avatar by :)
Again... I'll concider this and have been thinking about this.

Speaking of avatars, i can't get the forum to recognize mine.. i've tried two different pictures, and it rejects both. Both are under the size limitations and they are the correct file type, tried both .JPG and .GIF Is there a trick to it, or am i doing something wrong? Here's a link to the picture, and the picture, if you click on the link. Thanks!

BTW, the other one is the same picture i used on the old forum, and that one doesn't work too....

Hmm... is it under 100x100?
Do you have the "http://" at the beginning of the address?

yes, it's 89 x 89, and the total size is 6185 bytes.
here's the actual link, instead of the image, just as i copied it into the box on this forum. http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Team-NISMO-AZ/files/Justin/serca.JPG
oops.. looks like it edited wrong on this forum.. but in the box it's the full link, the one you see when you click on this hyperlink.

Nevermind... I found out what was up. I think it was just the site I was using to "host" the image. I uploaded the same file to my geocities space (yuck) and it worked fine the first time i tried it. DOH! Stupid monkey! :monkey: =)

Just for reference. If text or a image is wider than the normal table size in vbb it only adjusts that one post. The rest of the posts stay the normal size.

It will screw up the layout. See the border around the forum? That will also get moved over and will cause the layout to look like crap.

true, I forgot brian had done that as well. As far as general vbb installs it just makes the one post larger though, but yes it would definatly screw up the layout of this.
