well what i would do is use my spair key. Since u don't have one u should call AAA. IF u dont have that then u better try the hanger trick.

i've seen slim jim done pretty quick... what seems to be the problem with doing it?

DemonAstroth
Aug 25, 04, 08:36 PM
Same thing happened to me one morning... at the bank's ATM

Luckily, I have AAA, but they had a tough time doing it. In fact, the first guy that came couldn't do it and had to call another one... who had a tough time trying, and just when he was going to give up, he got it done.

I think you need a pro to do it... or a thief? lol

you need a wedge and a hanger. pull the top of the door open a little bit. then put the wedge in it so u have enough room to fit the hanger in there then fish around till u find the the lock.

How about you not do some possible damage to your car, and do the responsible thing, realize you screwed up, and call a locks smith.

The locksmith can damage your car too. My back door handle didnt work right for a while after i had my door popped open. It turns out he bent the rod that connects the handle to the actual latch with the slim jim. Apparently our cars are pretty hard to get into without busting out the window.

AAA scratched my tint bustin into my car. He told me before hand though that it would likely happen. Well, I'm kinda stuck so if it happens it happens. Now get me in my car was all I could think.

damn bro... sucks... u don't have a spare key or anything? There's gotta be something u can do... did u call a lock smith or AAA to try to open it? If you hafta bust open a window, be careful and don't forget u can get a relatively cheap replacement from the junk yard.... :-\

that's weird, my 96 won't let me lock the doors with the key in the ignition. otherwise i'm sure i would have locked myself out plenty of times...

DemonAstroth
Aug 26, 04, 01:21 AM
It will let you locked out if the car is running, just like his was..

If it was off, then it won't.

odd, mine won't ever lock me out. sucks though eh! i say call locksmiths for prices and then think about which window to smash. use a small object like an awl or something to make a shatter without knocking down the window and then pull the glass out. sorry about your misfortune ::\ just remember it's only earth, not eternity

Exactly what I said.. I have a 94t and a 95. If the car is on, it CAN lock. I mean, if you are driving your car and you want to lock your doors, you can right? His car was on and that's why it locked.

If the car is off, and the key is in the ignition, it will not lock.

go to a dealership and give them your VIN and they can cut a new key for you.

I think what it is, is you cannot lock the doors while the driver's door is open, regardless of whether the car is on or off. That's how mine is, anyway.

Trust me, you're damaging cars.. you just don't know it because 1.) it's dark and late at night and 2.) it's not your cars so you don't see the long term problems caused by this... I've seen many of my own and friends/girlfriends/etc cars get FUGGED up by Professional Locksmiths... so to say that you as an un-trained nightclub employee are doing this without damage is impossible... In fact, now that I've had so many problems from slim-jims/hangers, etc, that now, I just opt to break the window... that, or get a new key cut... but, now, I would just use my spare key... But to jam something down the door to try and yank and pull on the thin metal rods in there to get the lock to pop, is never easy or good on the car doors internals... ever...

Good example:

You can get a spare key made at home depot or just about any hardware store for $1.46. Its a good investment.

Yeah that's how my G20 is. My 240sx on the other hand... damn. It locks the doors and arms the alarm on whim, whenever it feels like it. the car has a mind of it's own.... I always make sure to leave a window at least partially down when I leave the keys in the car.

AAA came and unlocked my uncle's accord once. They basically took the slim jim, went under the window, came around to the inside of the car with it and actually pushed the unlock button on the door. No damage, no trouble, no pulling fragile rods. I always thought that's how it's done....

Weird! I've never seen it done like that... that must not have been an actual slim jim... the slim's I've always seen used look just like this:
http://www.lockpickshop.com/Merchant2/graphics/00000001/SJ-100.jpg
which could not bend around the bottom of the window or anything... sounds like it was a lock pic set, or something, not a slim jim exactly, more like this (you can see 2 other types of slims at the bottom there that don't bend either):

Ha ha!! LOL!!
http://www.g20.net/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=8724

And...YEP the locksmith and police both scratched my tint. I realize now I must've bumped the pass. side lock. Note to self: ONLY warm up car from driver's side from now on!!

(oh, and the one that finally worked was the one that unlocks via the little button. Slim jims and all that did NOTHING.)

I wanted a key for the glove box on my infiniti because I never got one when I bought it used and asked the dealer what it would cost to cut a new key if I gave them the VIN number. Believe it or not they said between $40 and $50. Nothing cheap at an Infiniti dealer.

I was wondering if a situation like this ever came up again whether you could stop the engine by maybe plugging the end of the exhaust pipe with a raw potato or rag or would this cause the muffler to explode or damge the engine? I know that used to be a prank many years ago to stick a potato up someones tailpipe but I don't know exactly what its supposed to do as I never tried it.

I guess you could spray tword the intake with halon but that cost more to replace the extinguiser than to call the locksmith. How about make a extra key?

ive have 3 keys myself to my car, my dad has one and my mom has another key to my car. 2 of my keys are on the keychain so i can lock my car well its warming up in the winter since i have an keychain taht allows me to do that but since i can't lock the doors well the car is running that is the only time its simple to steal my car. I have the other key stuck to the gas tank under the rear driver tire well. Theres a flap there and i put the magnet to the gas tank so if i ever do lock my keys in there i can get it without having someone jack up the door mecanism. Good to know that the G20 is hard to get into without jacking a window.

reminds me of an old 78 tbird i had.
it had a gas leak up front, hood up, on jacks in the front
i started the car to see the leak and when i got out the door closed and it was locked...so, car running, locked, AND leaking gas! fastest thing i could think of was to hold my hand over the carbs...that did it.

Thick black soup sprays all over the back of their car, what you are doing, literally, if filling their muiffler up with water. It doesn't destroy, but it's ugly, and takes multiple hours to get off. Sucks if your behind them when they turn their car on.

-one at home
-one inside ur shoes between the padding and the sole
that woudl be hard to the g20 chicks that have liek 80 pairs of shoes.... lets just do this to only the tennis shoes :D
-one in the wallet
-and hey why not super glue one on ur cell

theres about 30 G20's in Arvada and i dont' wanna think you wanna steal my G since unless you wanna fix it up for me. My suspension needs to get some work on it. . My axels are on the brink of breaking my front struts are bent, and my back bushings are shot so the car is loose for a G i mean loose. All this happened when i hit a curb going 30 mph cause i couldn't see where it was located.
It did a 19.4 in the quarter. Have fun with that beast.:(

A cop once unlocked my girlfriend's car, he had a slim jim. However, before he unlocked it he was like "I can't take any responsibility for the damage I cause unlocking it." So slim jims can definitely cause damage.
