....the rear suspension top mount nuts. Apparently, according to my service and repair manual, if these are removed (Spot the guy finally going to fit his strut brace) they should be replaced with brand new ones.

does anybody know what the official spec for these nuts is (M12 or whatever) because I'd rather not just guess from looking at them.

You can probably get them from the stealership. I wouldn't worry about it though I've have my suspension apart about 4 different times and have used the same hardware, no problems yet.
