Hey I really want a sunroof on my 96 G but it didnt come factory installed. Any way to install one or have the dealership install one? If so does anyone know the approximate price range for getting one of these installed? Any information is a help. Thanks alot!

When my dad was looking for a new car, there was a vue that had more features than the one with the sunroof, but didn't have a sunroof. The people said that it'd be about $700. He got the one with the sunroof, though, so I don't know what kind of quality it is. The car dealer probably won't do it.

Sunroof's are usually factory installed items. I doubt a dealer would put one in for you, they might but be prepared to pay a large amount for labor and other nonsense. You can search around and if your area is anything like mine there are a few sunroof places that install aftermarket sunroof's in vehicles. I know the place close to me charges $600 for ones that are not power, $900 for power ones that retract ontop of the roof, and $1200 for ones that retract inside the roof.

I know that SOME dealers will do it, my dad's dealerships have always offered it to the customer, however it is an outsourced company that does it (pretty sure), the dealer itself does not do it.

SOME dealers do it. But although some places other than the dealership can do it for you, be prepared to pay a arm and a leg for something like that. If i were you, i would take advantage of the fact that your not in CA and invest that $$ into a good ol' DET.

what about a diy job if you have a welder? Just throwing ideas out, but what if you went to a junk yard and cut the roof off a p10 w/ a sunroof and then cut yours off and welded the new one on? Then you could use the factory wiring and switches to hook it up, and maybe save some money. It's obviously not as simple as I just said, but if your good with a welder and body work you might be able to save yourself some money and have a good experience. Then again maybe I'm just crazy

Dealers outsource that. I prefer factory roofs, cause the aftermarket ones always look aftermarket although I was surprised how good of a job they did installing it.

my friends mom just bought an 04 ion w/o a sunroof, and had one installed aftermarket. it's gottta be half the size of an oem one. it also has maybe 8 buttons, and is kinda confusing. that one was $850.

Strikes me that that might cause structural issues in a crash.
