I wanna upgrade my stock door and rear speakers but im not sure on the size of these speakers, I had thought this whole time that they are 6.5" speakers in all 4 corners but I went to crutchfields site thinking theyll know and they say its 4x6" in front and 6 3/4" in the rear, can anyone confirm this or confirm what sizes the speakers really are, thanks.

The speaker sizes, hmmmm. I had this problem when doing a speaker conversion also. I got some 4x6 MB Quarts in the front, and 6 1/2's in the rear. The 4x6 MB Quarts didnt fit, I had to make a custom plate for those, and I just changed them out for components anyway. The 6 1/2's didnt fit well either, Im sure those are 6 3/4. There were 5 1/4 clarions in there with an adapter plate when I took them out, so if I would do anything it would be with 5 1/4's. Im still not sure about the fronts, maybe someone else can add some info here. Late.

on the p10's it is supposed to be 4x6 in the front. buyen them should work, they did on mine w/ no problem. the rear i just getto rigged 6.5's. it was pretty easy to do. 6 3/4 should fit fine though if u dont want to getto rig it. but somehow infiniti made all the cars different as evedence by the rear amp situation.

Yeah, the fronts are 4x6 for sure, but the rears aren't even exactly 6.5s or 6.75s. They're 6.5 oversize... so either way, you'll have to ghettorig. Get some pros to do it if you're not handy.

hmmm, weird, I wonder why my mb quarts wouldnt fit?

To clear out all your doubts gentlemen, here are the exact fits:

Front Speakers: 4x6's
Rear Speakers: 6'3/4" (6'7"s) Which is indeed an oversized 6'1/2"

Stock speakers are 4 Ohms by the way...

However, you can fit 5'1/4" or even 6'1/2" in the front, you just need to do two things... custom build a supporter/adapter plate and slightly (Dremel tool) cut a larger hole on the door frame.
To add the front speakers, you need to remove the whole door panel, and the rear speakers require the removal of the whole rear deck... (HINT: USE THE SEARCH OPTION FOR INSTRUCTIONS!!!) ;)

Peace!!

Hey, you know what 'd like to do? Put both my 6.5's and 4's in the doors, do you think that could be possible? That would be some major cutting, but do you think it could be possible?

LOL, nevermind, that would be like putting a 10 in the door, probably impossible.

anything can be done when it comes to getto riggen it. u just have to ask urself, how good do u want it to look. althought there would be absolutely no reason to do this, b/c if u want good bass and good tweeter, just get a really good component and add a amp.

I got a component set, its the Focal 165v3 set, polyglass. I made my own brackets for the front 4" speakers, and I just dont use the 6.5's I have a 15 in the trunk, so I couldnt put the 6.5's in the back, I have no idea what to do with them. If you know anybody that wants some, they are damn good speakers.

first off let me say, I KNOW THIS IS AN OLD THREAD!!!! I just dont like starting a new one when an old one exists already.

ok, now that thats out of the way, I was just on circuitcity.com and I put in my 96 G, it says that 4" speakers go in the front (wow, even worse than 4x6) and 6x9's go in the back! WTF?!?!

Why do you think they have these sizes listed? I have read the above info and these measurements seem puzzling.

Why? Lord knows why......all I can say is that they are way off on both sizes. Maybe you can send them an email to let them know.;)

Im rocking Pioneers 6-1/2" in the front and 6-3/4" in the rear, two different G20's in five years, no problems or cutting needed. Just the adapter plate for the front and ur good to go. ;)

Yea the 1996 cavilier adapters work in the front, they just need a little "love". Make sure you get "smaller?" 6.5" for the front. I picked up some Arcs to put in my front doors, they didnt fit :(. The shitty sony xplode 3 ways that came with the car in the back had to go. Arcs fit in perfectly, wow what a difference in sound.

Arcs are the surrounding that goes behind the speakers right? Was it was a nite and day difference?

Arc i ment www.arcaudio.com. I'm not sure of what your talking about, do you have a link to it? Anything was better than the shitty xplodes "200w max" I had in the back. The Arc Kar 6023 (somethin like that) sound crystal clear but they seem to be a little bass friendly, Once I get my zapco in the trunk i'll be able to give the arc's a more fair listening experience.

Haha my fault... I had xplods in the car before, and yea they are shitty.

I mean this, but as I thought and as it say its for weather protection.

I doubt those baffles would do anything for sound, if your getting water into your speakers you shouldnt be considering baffles, you should be considering a new car ;) (not a person shot, but directed at the product itself) If you got real custom made baffles for your speakers (150-300$ each) I'm sure those make a difference, but I'm not THAT into car audio :)
