Dont know bout p11 but p10 there is an adjustment bolt under the e-brake.
I had to remove the center console, but still not very hard.
Check your fsm, should be in there think thats how I figured it out.

^Yep kinda like he said, just take of the center console around the e-brake handle, and then you will see a screw that tightens or loosens the e-brake cord. Just tighten that and your e-brake should be more useful, but remember not to tighten it to much, or your rear brakes will always be locked up!

Ahhhh i c, maybe that is why the mechanic said there was no adjustment at the caliper :naughty: Poor bloke was lookin in d wrong place. Console by e-brake... will be disassembling in the morning... thanks fellas.

you dont have to take the console apart from what i remember, just take the dirt protector and pull it up. to find the nut on the e brake handle, look at the handle and follow it down to the base and then follow the base forward, you can pull the flap up if the ebrake is engaged. there should be a 10mm nut on a threaded cable that you can tighten

Just take a 10mm deep wall socket and 12" 3/8 extension and lift the e-brake a lil bit and find the 10mm nut and adjust.

Isn't a "loose" handbrake an indication that the rear pads may need to be changed. I have noticed on my '02 G that as the rear pads have worn the emergency brake moves up a bit more. Or am I just hallucinating?

Sounds reasonable, but your fronts would still go out first before your rears do. So check the fronts as well.

I think the cable does stretch a bit as well. Mine needed quite a bit of adjusting and my rear pads are still pretty good. But its great now... just 3 or 4 clicks and the car is dead stop.

BTW it is good to take the console off, you never know what could have fallen under there through the hole under the e-brake. I found a pen, a dash screw, a silver clip that holds console ashtray for the rear seat, a 5pence... none of which were lost by me. Maybe that is why I dont put stuff in that little tray by the e-brake.

Thanks fellas
