I bid and retracted my bid on the 16" g20 wheels on ebay because I did a bunch of research and found out that the guy who listed them (sangwl1980) is a good friend of chekmi21. I also noticed that chekmi21 bids up the prices on sangwl1980's auctions.

It seems that chekmi21 is having his friend sangwl1980 list/sell the wheels for him AND they are bidding up the price with a new id they just created on August 8, 2002. Great job guys!

If this is true, you need to report this to eBay NOW.

That is totally against eBay rules and it unethical and immoral.

makes interesting reading, but is this really the place? maybe it is, so other dont get fooled. either way if there is something funny going on, shouldnt Ebay be contacted with this evidence?

It looks like someone already did because I went to report it and ebay prompted me with a message that the auctions were already reported and being investigated and that it will take time 4-5 days before the end resolution is determined.

Ebay will probably just give a 'warning' is my guess.

I bought this up here BECAUSE of the whole wheel fiasco with chekmi21 and it seems apparent that this guy is up to more stuff that is just no good and it does relate to G20 stuff so I felt an obligation to post here what I found.

I've gotten people kicked off ebay (no longer a registered user) by reporting shill bidding in the past for stuff completely unrelated to g20 stuff so that is about the only way to see if anything happens.... to check back in about a week to 10 days and see if the IDs are still valid.

Unfortunately, ebay is often very slow to investigate and even slower to do something because I think they just want their money and have become too big.

We will see if any of the ebay user ids suddenly become (no longer registered users) within the next few weeks ;)

Well, for one thing you can check the user names on eBay and see if they have been kicked off. Personally, if I were ripped off by this sort of scam, I'd be inclined to report them to both my and their police departments for fraud or whatever applies. Clearly some auction bidders had to spend more money to win the auction than they should have.

I got one guy kicked off ebay 5 times in 5 months because he kept siging up new ids but tried to sell the same thing over and over again from the same location (DUH!).

So if someone NEW here suddenly starts advertisinig G20 16" wheels and is from Boston, MA... I'd start getting suspicious + my guess is that someone has Chekmi21's real name -- oh wait, his name is clearly posted on his cardomain website -- such a deal!

This kind of fraud is a civil matter so the Police won't do anything about it. You gotta go to court. Either small claims court OR get a lawyer involved!

I lost $400 on ebay last year ordering springs for my G20. It might not seem like a lot of money to those who have money to throw away or just have money saved. but when you work for it and then lose it knowing it coulda been used on other things is what hurts.

The idea of a Buyer/Seller rating have been rolling for a while, the only problem I see is that Geo is the only Mod that is active in the forums, at least, he is the only doing his job as moderator.

In case anyone wanted to know, I ended up giving up on Chekmi21 and notified my credit card company and faxed them all my documentation from Paypal and the correspondence I had with chekmi21. I got a nice letter yesterday from my credit card company telling me they will make sure it is all taken care of and that I don't have to pay the $314.80 so I have a credit on my card right now (Such a deal!)

It just goes to show that using your credit card (even on paypal) CAN help in a case of FRAUD!!!!!

I emailed all the current bidders on the current auction for the same wheels I supposedly bought from chekmi21 telling them about what happened to me and letting them know they can look up the details here on g20.net.

Maybe I should email them again NOW to point them to this thread and the shill bidding happening now!

I don't know the specifics on the the software version/programming that Brian is using to run/update the forum, so i'm not sure how easy it would be to implement something like this to all the users. It would be a rather large change, from what I understand. However, for the time being, or possibly even a permanent solution, we could make a sticky thread at the top of the classifieds section that lists all the bad sellers, good ones might be tough as there will be a LOT of names (i'd hope). One person could keep it updated with the names, and if someone had a bad experience they'd just PM that person and let them know the person's name, etc... I say jsut one person that way it doesn't turn into one long rant.

I was making note of how I noticed some name calling and foul language was turning this thread into something else other than what it was originally intended to be. If someone wants to investigate another member for whatever reason, that's their concern not mine. If someone else is offended when someone wants to investigate another member for whatever reason and bring his questionable practices/dealings to the attention of other members; again no concern of mine. Someone felt that the actions of another forum member was inappropriate and spoke out accordingly. That's their right, which I respect.
But this forum is for discussion, not name calling and arguing. To me, that how it seemed the thread was headed and that's what I spoke out in disfavor of. Mr. Ryte was again Right, Causal is always right and makes good points so this thread should continue how it is and it does suck to get robbed through the internet.

When i bought the stillen lip off of Luke, someone hacked into my e-mail after Luke sent me the receipt with my card number on it and some more info, they went all out and spent $250 ONLY. So i checked through the internet my account and saw all that money getting spent, so i wrote the bank and they accredited the money and got the sucker. :rambo:

the moral is:


1) try to use your credit card whenever possible to pay for stuff from someone you don't know and have no ability to check on cause if things go bad, the credit card company can do the dirty work and you just get your money back

2) working scams on people eventually catches up to an individual and it is up to that individual to either continue or learn a lesson and take the honest route (we can but hope anyway)

3) be careful to take things with a grain of salt cause it can be taken too seriously or not seriously enough

ok back to life it was me and wify driving from barnes and nobles tonight in her car and we see this g35 on the highway so i'm checking it out seeing how it looks while rollin so i slow down go to the back of it and look at the rer then i speed up and go to the right and then i slow down go to the back of it again then to the left

well somehow this g35 thought i wanted to race him lol i just wanted to look at so he starts hazards and starts to bounce lol i was still just chillin then wify says something uncharacteristic of her i was shocked she said '" beat them i didnt like their attitude" at this point i start laughing like crazy we in a 00 is300 stock against that g so i catch up in4th you could tell he is trying to get a good lead but you know when u pressing the gas but the person in the mirror is still eating away at you lead fast and you figure if they ake it next to you they will pass you well

i punch the gas pedal to the floor this guy out of desperation cuts me off to block me ok we on the highway so i chill for a sec putting the volume up and chill out go back to minding my business then he slows down to tell me get off the next exit fine i follow so we go to this back road

make long story short we did about 5 head to head runs straightaway him alone in his car and me and my girl in our car
is3 wins 3 out of 5

the two times i lost i just flat out lost i dont know why but when i would shift it would lag for like a sec before picking up so in that lag the g35 was gone far ahead but the times i won it was like head to head until top speeds and i kind of ate him up at the top speeds

I've lost $700 once through Ebay and Paypal....all in one transaction.....I tried everything but never got the money back. E-mailed the people that got ripped for the same deal and they either got no money or partial money....I didn't like the feeling of losing that much money one bit. I continue to use Ebay and Paypal but with extreme caution. There are alot of scammers out ther so be careful everyone.

just my 2 cents but thanks chris , one of the main points ona forum is when one person has a problem and posts about it others come in a gvie a hand , in this case there was a known problem with a party on here , and either chris was bidding on something or just plain investigateing cuz he felt he could help where no one else has , he dug a little found a rather serious prob and posted , possibly helping some bloke out that was thinkin bout buying some 2002 sport wheels ...

its all about someone not knowing something and and someone that does to fix that

not to mention chirs didnt call anyone names or anything , he was professional and stated the facts with little or no opion .

I had no idea it would get such an overwhelming response and posting responses but it has and it seems to keep going.

If sangwl1980 (now wookielee on ebay) and chekmi21 end up becoming 'no longer registered users' on ebay, then I think that will say a lot and perhaps this thread will die and become just one in the archives?

It seems obvious that Sang Lee (wookielee) and his pal Hyun Jin Chang (chekmi21) are monitoring this thread and are unhappy about it. Oh well, such is life.

ditto. just finished reading a thread on www.turbobuick.com about a scam and how this guy caught him. its so worth reading. if you have like 1 1/2 - 2 hrs that is =) . a good 25 pages. death to all scammers!

I'm not on here everyday, but just want to offer a tip o' the hat to Chris and others for shedding some light on these pond scum.

I have some retail businesses where we accept personal checks, and we rely heavily on the integrity & honor of someone's word. When it turns out we've been defrauded, I wish we had some way to warn others. Somehow, posting those bad-check writers' names on our lighted reader boards is always tempting for me.
