Hey guys,

I have a 93 G20 with a highport (low intake manifold?) with all the emissions crap. I basically wanna rip out my engine and replace it with a fresh JDM engine. I have a few questions though.

-Does it matter if I get a low port jdm motor?
-Do the JDM SR20's have all the emissions crap like my G20? I think I should be okay as long as I get the ECU with the swap right?

And finally,
-Is there a particular SR20DE JDM model that I should look out for? I also want to replace the tranny with a different model other then the G20. Are some SR20 trannies better than others?

Thanks for the help, I've searched my ass off and I can't find definate answers.

All JDM P10 motors were high port as far as I know, low port started in 95 with the P11's in japan. Of course the JDM SR20 doesnt have all the emissions like O2 sensor's like the US ones do, the JDM's compression is higher though, 10:1 or 10.5:1, not positive, compared to the US's of 9.5:1. You can use your G20's tranny with the JDM motor, I think that will be better then using an SE-R tranny. As long as you got the JDM ECU and all the little parts that go along with the motor to ensure that it runs then you should be fine, supposedly the JDM SR20 has 150ps, roughly almost 148hp, PS is the metric measurement for HP, thats why you see some people using the JDM SR20 header on a US SR20 for a few HP gains. How much are you getting this motor for and what does it come with?

Thanks man,

I was thinking about taking a trip to K Watanabe for the motor. My car leaks oil, sputters, clutch slips, 5th gear shakes, Mounts are shot, so I just wanna swap it out. I heard Watanabe's motors are around $600 with tranny and all the parts, correct? There's also a place called Raiden here in phoenix that will install a JDM SR20 with tranny for $1100. What do you guys think?

For $1100 installed with everything is not bad, at least not to me.

Does that price include new motor mounts? Figure an extra $3-400 just for new mounts.
