which shifter, the Pacesetter SS or the B&M SS, is a better buy. i can get the pace setter for 100 roughly...and the B&M for 140. but is there any advantages to either of the two? I have searched and did not find any actually info that helps me out. Or is it more based on personal preferance with the two?

The consensus seems to be that the B&M "feels" better, mostly due to weighting. The Pacesetter (SMC design) is adjustable, but the B&M has an even shorter throw than it does on it's shortest setting. If you can spare the extra $40, I see no reason to cheap out. Don't forget the ES shifter bushing and some good synthetic gear oil like Redline MT-90, if you haven't done this already.

$13? Try Suspension.com. Same bushing used by '91-94 Nissan Sentra SE-R and '95-99 Nissan 200SX SE-R, if you don't see a G20 listing.

From experience, I would not buy a pace setter unless you just dont have the money for a b&m. I thought the throw on the PS short shifter was awesome when I first put it in, but now it softened up and the throw is about the same as the original. Also, make sure you buy the MOMO shift knobs, dont go cheap-a$$ like me and get something off the shelf that's likely to fall apart in a few thousand miles.

So the PS softens up after a few k miles? If you relube and reinstall it would it shifts like the way it was new?

Sorry, but no. I took it out when I noticed the throw wasnt nearly as short as it was at first, and I adjusted it until the ball was at the top of the threads, reinstalled it, and it didnt change a thing. I even had the ES bushings installed, didnt notice much of a difference there. PS just isnt very good quality stuff. I'm buying their header (I hope to have some better luck with that) and it should be showing up by next week.

You have to think about it, the exhaust pipe is right underneath the stick shift. The constant heat and hard shifts can definitely tweak the shift lever. Im thinking thats probably what happened. Two weeks after I put the thing in the shift was back to normal.

Uhh... I've had my Pacesetter SS in my car for probably 18 months now, probalby longer and it is still as short as it was when i first installed it, and it has shorter throws than any other G20 I've seen/felt. I've received MANY compliments on the shifter. I have the pacesetter SS, adjusted all the way down w/ the ES shifter bushing installed. The more lube you use during the install (to a point of course), the easier the shifts will be. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the Pacesetter/SMC SS. You should be able to find them for well under $100 as well. I paid almost half of that price for mine.

so from the sound of it, it is an either/or choice huh? Personal preferance and all, since it seems like there isn't a straight forward "this is the winner" or am i still missing something lol?

Quick note.... bought my Pacesetter Short Shifter from Autosupermart.com a few weeks ago. If you give them a link to Nopionline.com's listing for the same (out of stock, but still on the website) shifter, they will price match and not charge you the $10 handling fee, plus 25% off of the difference. All in all, got mine for less than $60.

Well, for starters, Summit Racing (http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?part=30170&view=2047) sells them every day for less than $140, so there's a good place to start. Jegs, JC Whitney, and several other major mail order houses also carry B&M, so maybe you can evoke a pricewar.
