like the title says guys. from day one i have noticed the worst 4 banger nissan has ever built. Basicly we are replaceing atlest one per week at my dealer wear i work. wether it be altima are sentra se-r. they have always consumed oil and blew the cats and tore them selves for distruction. i had mentioned this a while back ,but now the truth has come out more than ever all 06 altimas and sentra se-r's can no longer be sold due to they are shit but really. So fare their has been 251 insodents of qr25's in the US consumeing oil then catching fire. as fare as today 5 people have been injured from this. So tell your freinds. you guys that say that the qr has potentuall i say to blow up are burn oil and catch fire.
At nissan their is no other motor built in its fasion and we have no issues with any other mottors than this one.
Any one who cares to argue the facts are their. you cannot curently buy a o6 qr25 front wheel drive car as of now.

I hope they bring the sr20ve into production again. cuase the sr never had an issue. It would be sweet if they would send us ves and different trannys and all in one recall package. cuase this would meen 6speed sr20 trannys. Im not sure what they are going to do but i am sick of putting thees motors in alltuogh i have gotten them down and i can do them way faster than i can do an sr

So what can be done if you own an 2006 Altima? Are they recalling them all or just replacing messed up ones? I bought an Altima in January so I'm still under warranty but I want to see what I can do to either a)return it and get the 3.5 or another vehicle or b)know what to do in case something does happen. Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated.

My wife wanted a Spec V, I was like hell no! I have done my research on the QR25de, and my friend also works at nissan and says they are a POS. So I bought her a 2001 SE.

cant you just put in a aftermarket cat and thread lock the power valve screw?

cant you just put in a aftermarket cat and thread lock the power valve screw?

yeah you can... but the point is.... this wasn't supose to happen to an engine that only about 4-5 years old!

yeah but why tell people to stay away from it if its just these small issues that $100-$150 can fix? changing a cat is simple. I'm suggesting to my g/f to get a new sentra SE-R Spec V because its a nice looking car with nice interior and seems to have some get up and go. Also her dads paying for it :)

that is not the only issues. from day one the have always had motors that consume oil. Im not sure what this recall is of yet as i se nissan has not come out with the recall yet.

Not everyones motor has done this. I have also seen qr piston rings snap.
I agree the spec it a nice looking car and is a lil fun to drive. I just say that it is not reliable sorry.
I wish nissan would just make a sr25ve and we would have to just swap out for the recall. Im asumeing all the modles afected we are going to have to replace theese engines.
I have no time to open up 40 sume engines in brand new cars of the lot and replace internals warrenty.

^^ we're just dreaming when we think ve's are going to be put into some cars...atleast thats what i think. unless...you know something we dont know about nissan and the production of ve's..

i don't know to much. us techs are given tech talk guides about new technology in advance and nna.net comes out with new computor based tranning for us around the same time. A ve would be sweet and more reliable. but all of are new engines use the vct's on the intake cams. all motors are fly by wire. all useing individual coils

the more specV's end up in the junk yard.. the more specV wheels we can get:)

maybe this explains why Nissans sales are down 7 percent and Honda and Toyota are increasing..
Nissans needs to step it up

very true

funny my friend has a spec-v and beats the living snot out of it every day and he never had a problem yet...and when i say beat the snot out of it i mean it...brand new the first day from the dealer wit 15 miles on the motor and hes doin 1st to 5th runs and burnouts

on a totally unrelated side note i love burn-outs

whats the warrenty on these? like say we get the car and the motor shits the bed a few months later....will nissan cover it?

randyo156
Jun 04, 06, 06:40 PM
4/50 ON THE POWER TRAin
nissan is going to bump affexted models to 7/100 from what ive been told

SleakG20
Jun 04, 06, 06:55 PM
so we could get a spec-v have the motor blow and if it does it within 4 years/50,000 then we're set?

this is true! the only afected qr motors are from Jan.-May of 2006, nissan thinks it has to do with something of there supplier of piston rings???? no recals of yet have been spoken of..........but just wait it will happen, us tech's will have to pay for it! (nissan recalls = no $ for techs! )

how is it no money for you? dont you get paid by the work hours regardless?

nut180sx
Jun 05, 06, 10:37 AM
ya you still get paid but it's time cut in 1/2. i get paid by the job (flat rate) in most cases a warrenty job or a recall will pay you half the time a customer pay job would. thats what i ment by that.

p10det
Jun 05, 06, 05:55 PM
same here flate rate. i have loads of tools. and i have atima l31 subframes down to 45 min so i make money their.
but in fact qr motors have been consuming oil since they were fist built. it was until now that fires are starting. the qr has had more issuess than any other motor that nissan has ever came out with period. it is the most unreliable engine.
as wee speek their are 2 getting replaced in are shop right now. the only reson to replace any other motor is due to wall mart leaveing oil drain plugs loose sending rods flying out the block. I liove wall mart cuase thees are cash jobs and you make mad time on them. let just say i haven't seen any wall mart speacials this whole year im impressed. last year i made mad loot from their mistakes.

they know the scoop. If you dont have a 2.0 se than your car sucks.
the gg18de id solide but any one knows about replaceing the head gaskets (cake job and the timing chain stretch not to bad of a job for the time. and again this it not to often. but once you have fixed this these are very good engines as well. not one i have seen consume oil ever

There is a well known car rental business that operates an office in our building. They have had 2 engines seize, and 3 brought back damned near dry. Nissan better seriously look at this problem. With the way Toyota is exploding they (Nissan) cant afford to let this go on any longer.

working on cars for a liveing has its goods and bads. i have had the worst lose this year so far dispite getteing pay raises my lift has been broken down and i have to work out of my tool cart as my box wont fit at the spare bay. so im running from one end of the shop. When i do motors and internal motor work i take the lift from a hourly guy with is right next to my box other wise i would not do the work. they have been slaking hard on my lift getting fixed. I bitch at the manager and the people above him everyday. I wish they would just pay for me to stay home untill my lift is fixed cuase it is a hastle and im looseing tools in the proceses. I send thousands opon thousands on tools since i have been in the buisness and loosing anything really is frusterating.
i have dicks that think its ok to go in my box and use what they need. I have told them if they go in my box again i will weld their box shut. I am serius to i will damage their 10k $ boxes them bitches keep of my shit. some one broke my coolant guage and gave me shit when i told them to pay so i took a hammer to thier box and blew up a can of white lithium grease in their top droor.
that all i can say is that the shop is fool of disresectfull dicks. i used to help theese people but know i make fun of thenm and piss them off and give them smerks when work comes back. I say those in the work feild that dis respect mye or my property force me to turn cut throut on their ass. Their are a few cool people and i don't mind helping them out cuase they are respectfull.
As fare as the work goes i consider my self really good at it and if the work is theri i make bank given my lift was fixed my hours would be closed to dubbled. last week i only got 48 hrs flat rate. when my lift is their i can turn 80-90 hrs on busy weeks and only work 40 -50
