Im looking for a second car and probably would want to race from time to time. So for all you true Datsun, Nissan, & Infiniti fans what Nissan car would you get?

I think If I were to get a new used car to race it would be an 240sx because they have an easy sr20det swap and or the Ka24 I have heard can be supercharger and is pretty powerful supercharged. The 300zx has more potentional, I think, but I like being different and you hardly ever see tricked 240sx's where as you see alot of tricked 300zx's. The 510 also is a good car because Im pretty sure that it's super lite. The nk2k and the 180sx I dont like because of the way they look. I like to have a car that looks good and goes fast.

If racing is what you wanna do with the car your best bet in my opinion is a 510. Very lightweight not to mention its RWD so you can drop a S13 SR20DET in there and be in the low 13's in the 1/4 mile if drag racing is what your looking to do. On the other hand with a DET in the 510 I think the weight distribution would be a little off for circuit racing so in that case I would go with a 240/S13 Silvia. The S13 coupe is pretty light and with the DET even in stock trim you should be able to get pretty good times out of it.

I don't really think of the 300ZX having too much potential. They are REALLY heavy and although it might be stock-turbo/react well to supercharger, the VG motors just can't meet the potential of a well-made SR.

Where do you live that you see lots of tricked out 300ZXs? The Z is one of the most UN-tuned cars... there's a ton of them out there but I rarely see them fixed up; on the other hand, 240SXs might not be as common, but most of the ones I see have SOME kind of modification, even if it's just a chrome tip and bling-bling rims *so help them God*.

I'd go with the 180SX instead, cuz that's got the CA18DET in it (kinda like a combination VG and SR motor) and it's still drift-drift happy; great for circuit or track... or the streets too I guess. The KA in the identical 240SX chassis is fine too I guess... but I like CAs better (and the SR can drop even more easily into the S13 than the KA can).

And what about the other Nissan cars? No Skyline GT-R, but you mentioned the 180SX? You could've even mentioned the Stagea or March or something, but you put in the NX2000 instead? I give one million votes for the Skyline GT-R, even though it's not on the list...

She lives in Tx so I dont know why your even mentioning JDM cars like the 180sx with a CA or the Stagea.

Well, cuz she put 180SX on the list, and that never came out in the U.S. either. And she used to live in Cali, I'm sure she knows a couple JDM only kinds of cars.

Ok but its not even worth mentioning JDM cars here since there unattainable. The 180sx is only JDM in its name, the same car exists here so it wouldnt be a pure JDM car. Any car in Japan that has a US counterpart would only be categorized as JDM because of the obvious reasons of being RHD and different engine options. A car like the Stagea on the other hand is a pure JDM car since nothing like it exists here.

Well I've only done drag racing. Although I wouldn't mind another venue of racing, any suggestions Geo? ;)

I listed the 510 becasue I know its a very good race car, although hard to come by in good condition. And wouldn't be totally kewl to drop a DET in that???? :p

:p

I know that I didn't give JDM any justice, but how long would my list be??? Too many to mention, and I just kinda rambled a few names off the top of my head.
The one reason why I listed the 180SX was for that simple fact... the CA18DET, what an awsome engine that is ;)
Now, I'll give credit where credit is due the Skyline is a great Nissan ride, but it seems now a days if all the little ricers in the world could get their mums and dads to buy one they would. I kinda want to go with something that doesn't get tricked out as often.

Probably the same reason we all bought G20's.... orginality

I really do like the look of the 240SX but I'd have to say no to the Veilside kit. I'm a Plain Jane kinda girl who just wants a totally kick ass ride.
Now on the other hand, I just got word from my dad that he has somehow came across a Datsun Fairlady. I'm not sure what year but he says the car is in mint condition... now I need to get my butt to Ohio to "borrow" it from him

The old S30 Fairladys are pretty common for a pretty low price. A grand can get you a well-cared-for example. I'd love to get one, but then the car would probably be older than me (not to say that's a bad thing) but I'm not too keen on that.

I choose 180SX because I just thought you meant the hatchback chassis RPS13 and not really the motor. I would in your shoes buy a stripped no motor shell of a RPS13 or try and get the 97+ 240SX (slant eye) and do a DET swap...

i too think the 300z doesnt have much as much potential as a SR. i mean theyre fast but, theyre a lil too heavy for me. i would say a 240 or a 510.. 510s are freaken tyte =) and 240s are just nicely designed cars. both can easy handle a SR swap. theyre light and agile too!

I just came across a '98 240SX in Austin... $14,250 w/ 27,500 miles on it. I may go down there this w/e to check it out

A '98 S14 would be hella nice...Those are pretty pricey though since they are rare and high in demand. That seems a decent price but would be great to get it into the 13Ks....Good luck..

A 280zx would be my choice. (Drop in any engine from the rb series and proceed to make serious power) or for that matter from in any inline 6. or a chevy 350 supercharged mmmmmmm...... *droooool*
