I need to fit a new thinner cooling fan, as the turbo is in the way. The stock fan housing measures 14 inches x 14 inches square and the fan blade diameter is anbout 12.5 inches. The avaiable room is only about 1-1.5 inches.
Who makes really thin cooling fans? i hoping to get one ordered before xmas.

Can you change the stock fans to pusher fans?
Spal USA carries many pusher & puller fans.

Flex-a-lit also carries fans.

yeah, thats an idea, im gonna measure up tonite after work and see if i can mount it in front of the rad. Is it as simple as reversing the polarity ti push the air???

Like TurbochargedSER said, I would recommend FAL. A lot of guys with turbos are using dual FAL pullers, which have the advantage of having two, discrete fan motors and also more area (two small circles vs. one large one...).

Cowboy, do you have a link to FAL? ill be interested in having a look at them. So are you thinking of 2 small fans to cover the 14 inch square area? each fan would be kinda small, but as long as they work, im happy.

FAL : Flex-A-Lite :) Linked above.
I bet the radiator is bigger than 14"². My dad taught me that there ain't no problem too big for a Milwaukee Sawzall (http://www.milwaukeetools.com/sawzall.html) in the hands of a properly-motivated individual. :D

DOH !!! you can tell im just not thinking, is didnt see the connection. Anyways, ive had a look thru there and the low profile ones are 2 5/8 inches thick, the stock fan is about 3 inch thick so theres not much in it. Ill still have a go at mounting mine in front of the rad, blowing inwards.
Ive just tested it and it does work on reverse polarity, but i think, due to the curved blades, i should still mount it facing the same way to produce more air flow.

After all that worry, ive managed to sort it out. I discovered that if i removed the radiator brackets at the top, and then removed the aux fan, i could, with a bit of force, slide the main fan across to the correct postion. Then all i had to do was put everything back together. Its a close fit, bit the fan has cleared the turbo, downpipe, etc.
Thanks for the info guys.

You can't only reverse the polarity because the blades are made to work only in one sense. I think you would have to turn the blades of an angle of 180 degrees. But I'll have to think about it tomorrow, I may say things that aren't true as it's 1:11am and I'm pretty sleepy now!

Its ok now, ive got it fitted back in, thanks for the advice anyways, but you did confirm my suspicions about the blades.
