Oh, and funny story about the 12/7 date.

It's Pearl Harbor day, right? Well, I'm Japanese-American and my dad and his family lived on Kauaii in 1941 so I have THREE connections to that date. SOOO torn about my allegiences.

Well, unless you have $500 lying around for dedicated tires, that's pretty much your only choice.

I do recommend you at least get a set of Axis Ultimates front brake pads. They're like $50 a set. If you're serious, get a set of Hawk Blues, but they'll set you back $110 or so (and only available for P10s).

Brakes are by far the weak link in a non-prepped car. You can drive slower and brake easier, but that's not as fun! :^)

Expenses are basically gas, brake pads, tires, and hotel. Lunch and drinks and snacks are provided, as is instruction.

If you just plan on taking it easy, learning the proper line and driving technique, and NOT going for fast and sloppy, then your car will be fine!

Dang...wish I could go but I'm on "winter sabbatical" after running my B13 at T-hill on 10/27. i'll be back out in the spring after I get my snowboarding fix-on. hehe

Worth putting $35 worth of parts in IMHO. 10 seconds of hard knocking is kinda scary tho. Did you replace the bearings when you swapped it? Do you have an oil pressure gauge? Know what it was running at before this happened? How much oil in the sump, full?

Is your pan dented?

How did you get it back home? If you drove it for more than a few seconds, the crank might be gone. You're just better off swapping the head over to a 8CW DE bottom end and swapping the oil pump if its still good.

on Sunday, i lowered the car a little more at j0n's. today i did an oil change with Royal Purple, and a K&N filer. i'm now a believer, it feels great. also, installed Axxis Ultimate pads, got the rotors resurfaced (front only), and changed to ATE brake fluid. i just hope the weather gets better.

Sounds like you're all set! Weather? Rain day at the track FTMFW!!! You'll learn SO much more about car control if there's water on the track. Also, it'll teach you respect for working up to it if muddy leather is the punishment for over-eagerness. ;)

That said, yesterday the forecast said rain, today it says partly cloudy.

I hit the DMV and got my car registered (B13) and tagged today, but I STILL don't have plates. I'm gonna hope for the best...
