Mike's (P11Gdub's) Trackday Cherry!

So Mike made it through the day without getting muddy after all! Even though it was raining pretty hard on the drive out to the track, it turned out to be a clear (though cold and windy) day at the track.

Overall our boy did pretty well considering this was his first time out on any track. By the end of the day he was figuring out the line and getting into the rhythm of the track and letting the car track out.

He does need to learn the art of matched rev downshifts tho!

w00t! i had a blast (except meeting at 4:45am), especially with Scott as my instructor. he truly is the master. when i was driving, my hands were fine. but riding shotgun in the B13, my hand was aching from the death grip on the "oh shit" handle. i hope to come out to another discounted track day.

BTW this is my first manual car. i had a Mazda truck with 2 foot long shifter, no RPM guage.

Wow, that looks like fun. What dies it feel like to throw a p11 around the track compared to the B13?

You know, it wasn't THAT bad. I take that back, it was pretty fun. With the setup it has on it and the big ass tires, it gripped pretty well, but I wasn't going anywhere close 10:10. Seemed like it could rotate if I hauled it trail brake into a corner. Power:weight seemed pretty good too. With that Stillen rear bar installed you'd have to be careful not to swap ends! Didn't feel nearly as heavy as what I had expected.

Of course there's no comparison to the B13 in power, but the balance is nice.

congrats mike and nice vids shig. One question? What are the requirements for that course to pas tech? reson i ask is im guageing what i will need when the thunderbolt race way finally opens in soth NJ. Im not shure if i will have to put in a roll cage are not

Tech is the same as autox. Nothing loose, no leaks, standard belts, 1/2 pads or more, firm brake pedal.

No roll protection except for convertibles. It's basically "driving school" so no racing mods necessary.

thanks, dai lo. i was really nervous, especially since it rained the night before. also, the track is over 200 miles away, so i didn't want to break anything. but i had a great instructor, and will never forget my cherry popping.
