Hey Everyone,
Has anyone put led's in the tail lights of a p11 and if so can you tell me what type number and kind and where you got them from. I love the look of led's and was wanting to put them in the tail lights, Thanks in advance for the help.

Any LED's that match the stock bulbs should work. I've been thinking about something like this on my '95.

can you put an led bulb in the reg socket? can you get em at the local auto shop?

Ya led's can fit in regular sockets but the only problem is there head where the led's are located are normally to big to go in to the P11 light housing so I need to find one's that work.

They're supposed to shine brighter than regular lights.

Thay shine brighter and last longer, they also come on extremly fast and off extremly fast. It's hard to explain but I have 'em and they're real fast not like regular bulbs.;)

What kind of bulbs and what size do you have in there that they actually fit. I could not find any that fit in the P11 housing they were all too big when I tried to fit them.
Thanks

LEDs also have lower amperage draw.

i'm kinda interested in the LED bulbs to for our tailights. Question? Which cars already have the LED bulbs in the tailights stock? the luxury cars? so next time I can take notice of them when i'm on the road at night.

G35 sedan and coupe both have them. On the sedan, it's the 3 horizontal lines seen here: http://a332.g.akamai.net/f/332/936/12h/www.edmunds.com//pictures/VEHICLE/2003/Infiniti/100074359/005584-E.jpg
The coupe has the two circles and it looks like the area under the "G35" is LEDs, but I've never seen it at night so I'm not too sure if they are.

So no one has any clue where I can get them from and what size. It seems like there is a lot of interest in it but no one has tried like me to do it. I am surprised that no one has done it or is just being quiet about it. Please help me find them in P11 sizes thanks.

Dude I have'em in mine and they the same # as what your stock bulb # is. Just take it out and look at the # or have a auto part store look it up.

The reason I asked the question was when I tried to put them in my p11 they were too big for the light housing so that is why I was asking what size you used because mine wouldn't fit when I bought them from a car store by my house. Do you know the brand you used. Thanks

I'll have to check I forget. But be sure you have the right # cause sometimes in the books there might be a conversion chart.

Hey KidCapriG20
Did you have a chance to check on what kind and what wattage the led's are in your car because I took my bulbs in to a local store and they are to stupid to know what fits, if you can please check so I can maybe get them online. Thanks

Say dawg. try this link. Click light bulbs and then choose the make of your car. then look at the APC Led "tail lights"These look like they are the same size as the stock bullbs.

Hey thanks for the info but I think next collection has the wrong info for our cars if I am not mistaken. We don't have dual filament bulbs in our brake lights right? Because they don't blink or anything they just turn on and off so why is nextcollection selling us dual filament bulbs do we need them? Anyone know?
thanks

Are you sure. Obviously you've taken out your tail light bulbs to see, right. But they do serve a dual purpose. Tail lights do turn on and off but they also get bright when you hit the brake. Turn signals are single fillament cuz they just blink on and off.

Durability, light output vs. energy input, less heat created since they run more efficient, 1/100 seconds to full strength light vs. 1/4 second for regular lamps giving them an instant on/off look which I really care for but I can see the reason it would be good for safety since people will see your brake lights quarter of a second sooner.

Just to clarify a little, the brake lights ARE dual filamented. They have the normal operating filament for while you arent hitting the brakes and then when you hit the brakes it shuts that one down and uses the larger one which is much brighter... to warn teh drivers behind you.

I was just wondering if anyone has bought the LED's that rotate and blink when you brake. if you have did you get in trouble with the cops? Im asking this because i dont know if blinking stoplights are legal. I plan on putting LEDs in my tailights. 2 reqular LEDs and 2 rotating LEDs.

I think any kind of flashing lights could get you busted....
Glowmunkey
Jan 31, 03, 10:00 PM
Yeah, flashing lights are frowned upon... so has anyone used these LEDs in our normal red tailight housings? APC is not a company that I would normally do business with, but I must admit, I am attracted to the whole LED deal.

Ya, i dont like the flashing part but i do like the way they do rotate. i just cant seem to find and LED that just rotates. Maybe ist because of that double filament stuff. Does anybody know if there is away to like disconnect the brakesignal wire so they can just rotater?

My brothers and I are about to embark on an LED taillight project. However, we're not getting any lame "LED bulbs" that plug into the existing socket...what we're going to do, is get a piece of plexiglass that mounts inside the taillight, drill holes in it for an attractive pattern mimicking the slope of the taillights, mount LEDs in those holes and wire them all to a circuit board with the necessary resistor and mount that to the stock wiring. My brother has already converted a flashlight to an LED flashlight via the same method, and it's very neat. This way we get a large amount of LED's and many choices on patterns for them. We will definitely replace the turn signals and red tails, possibly the reverse lights. Instead of the dual-filament thing for the tails (obviously there aren't dual-filament LEDs) we will have SOME of the LEDs light up for reg. taillights and the rest when braking...
The whole thing altogther shouldn't cost more than $150 per set of lights plus labor. I will post pics as this project moves along and if successful will be willing to do the conversion to other people's taillights.
Right now I am seeking a set of tails to do the experiment on, I must have both Trunk Lid and Body pieces, I don't care which side, (both sides would be great if possible) so if anyone has any suggestions or taillights for sale, let me know. Thanks!!!

Has anyone put red LEDs for their rear turn signals? If so is it bright enough to be clearly seen during the day? And which size, company and where'd you get it? Thanks!

Hey everyone I went and bought a group of about 10 led bulbs that fit our rear tail light areas. They fit and everything but the only problem is that the corner tail light ones in red don't work do to the fact that the socket sits at a 45 degree angle so the led looks stupid in it. Also I can't put led's in the turn signal because it starts to blink really fast telling me it is the wrong bulb wattage, so after all these purchases I am screwed and I guess for now I am sticking with stock bulbs.

Is this statement still true?
Are there anything special for the P10? I would like to change to LEDs on this car, but not sure if there is anything special I need to look for. I have read old posts, but there are not anything recent.
So sorry about reviving this old post. Please LMK what you all know today...

The reason the LED blinks fast in the turn signal is because the the wattage change in the wires is to powerful for the LED's, because they are a lower wattage. You can make them turn signals but you must add a resistor. My brother burned out the wires running all the way to his taillights from trying it. In a 91-96 G you wont see the spinning taillights or the LED's because of how they sit in the taillight. I have them and they are instant on instant off which is classy in a stupid way. Also the new Infiniti G, M, FX, and QX,(not sure about Q),the new Lexus LS and RX(you cant see the individual lights but they are), the BMW 7,6,and 2005 and up 330 coupes and convertible's, Cadillac DTS, STS, Deville, 06 Escalade, new Toyota SUV(highlander I think), and some of the higher end new Mercedes have them. They're everywhere but thats all I can think of right now.

I have LEDs in my front signals. Yes, you need a resistor or a new flasher to keep it from thinking you have a bulb out and blinking fast. Here are links to the flasher and resistors...
Click and scroll all the way down.. (http://www.superbrightleds.com/tail-brake-turn.html)
I don't know if the flasher will work yet because I haven't pulled the factory one to compare. As far as the rear signal leds I am going to try the tower LEDs available at autolumination.com because they have LEDs all around and not just pointing out the front. Since our bulbs sit sideways, these may still give adequate light. I'm not sure if they will fit though, gotta compare the measurement specs.

I've ran LEDs on my taillights and on my turn signals. I loved the crisp brake light and on/off of the turn signals. It certainly won't be as bright as any OEM LED tailight setup, since their LEDs are basically exposed in their lens housings. To an average person they won't notice the difference too much, but a car enthusiast will know the difference.
I have 2 1157s in red and 4 amber 1156s that I bought from superbrightLEDs.com to sell if you're interested, hit me up on PM.
Thanks!
