: Fast Cars
Dirty Sanchez Feb 04, 03, 02:58 AM I just drove my buddies 2000 Integra Type R. It has Apex-N1, Intake filter (no pipe), and he just got a Spoon computer. It hauls ass! 9500rpm limit!!!!! Maybe I am getting used to the G, but this car would pull so hard in 3rd gear, then when it hit V-tech it actually spun the tires, then shifting into 4th, they spun again (cold pavement). My G wont even spin the tires in 1st!! (on ice) Haha.
Later I drove another friends 89' Civic Si. It has a homemade turbo kit (including a stock Talon turbo and blow off valve and huge front mount). This car absolutely hauls as well!! 0-180 in no time at all. Then I jumped back in tha G........ DET is ondaway!
Haha... hell yeah, sounds like you are keeping good company these days bro :)
My G20 always feels like a slug after I drive my Civic(91 sedan w/ D16Z6 VTEC w/ muchas mods...turbo coming soon). But that's okay, I love how the G is in stock form. Hell, it keeps me out of trouble!

Dirty Sanchez Feb 17, 03, 01:45 AM That Integra Type R is now in the shop - Speedtechracing.com
Its getting a turbo kit installed!! Shit man! I can't keep up with these guys!
Chris Feb 18, 03, 04:31 PM my former G20 felt like a slug after I drove my 5-speed Beetle!
...much lighter car makes for a faster car :)
Dirty Sanchez Feb 22, 03, 03:13 AM Done!! You see!! Now what?

Niiiiiiice.
I can't wait to turbo my little sleeper. I'm at close to 185 hp now... 2100 lbs... want to be at 225 hp & calling it quits then.

fatboyz921 Feb 26, 03, 03:42 PM That valve cover intercooler and strut bar are awesome. As much as I dont care for hondas that looks to be sweet
Sir-C Feb 26, 03, 05:31 PM I cant see it.
GTiG20-R Feb 26, 03, 05:47 PM There's nothin like the shiddy scream of Vtec at 9500 rpm. I hang with two die hard honda fans, a B16a2 Civic and a Type R with all the bells and whistles. Both chipped and fast, but even when they are getting 3rd gear scratch you dont feel that torque smacking you in the gut. They accelerate fast, you just don't get to feel it.......lol just hating
fatboyz921 Feb 26, 03, 07:33 PM Well most 4 bangers u dont feel the torque because there is none and will never be any. I wish there was though because it's deffently a cool feeling.
JDMP10 Feb 27, 03, 12:09 AM You cant compare Honda's torque to SR20's cause a bone stock DE has almost as much torque as a bone stock DC2 ITR that has about 55hp more then a stock DE so that alone should tell you something about Honda's and there beliefs about torque. The only Honda motor's that have decent torque are sedans, Acura Legends, Accords, and there SUV's, the Pilot, the Acura MDX, even the NSX is dying for some torque, its got 290hp but only about 220 or so lbs. tq. Its pretty sad when you think about it but thats what you can expect from a company that started out building bikes then went into making cars. The only thing that Honda's have going for them are there high end, especially the B series motor's, particularly the VTEC equipped ones. The B16's and B18's high end is pretty decent from VTEC engagement to redline. How about another Honda figure to make us DE owners have a even bigger smile on our face, Honda's glorified S2000 that has almost double the HP of a stock DE only had 153ft lbs/tq, only 21ft.lbs more then a stock DE, thats why the 9k redline makes sense, you gotta get it screaming for it to go. SR motor's on the other hand have very decent torque figures comparable to its HP. Take our stock DE for instance, 140hp, 132ft.lbs/tq, a BB DET is 205hp and about 190-200ft.lbs/tq, thats very respectable. Hope that made the DE community feel alot better about torque compared to Honda's.
Hehe.. there's so many Honda-haters on this forum. I still love em though :]
My civic may not have much torque, but that isn't a problem for me. It's all about personal preference ya know. It only weighs 2100 lbs, so lack of torque isn't much of an issue... especially when VTEC engages. I love the banshee wail of 8200 rpms... & my car will still rip 2nd & 3rd gear when I shift at 7500rpms & above... VTEC engages at 4800, so I'm already there when I shift into the next gear.
I don't even look at different manufacturers in a competitve fashion... why, what's the point? I love them all, they all make great machines. If you want torque, why roast Honda for not having it... just don't buy one.
I'm a Honda guy from way back, so I always have to stand up for them! ...it's all the ricers that get me, & the bad rep they give Hondas. I keep hoping that they will go away soon... hoping the trend will die down. But that's a completely different topic...
Anyway, no beef with anyone at all... just standing up for what I believe in :)

JDMP10 Feb 27, 03, 12:19 PM Im not saying Honda's are bad cars or there popular VTEC motor's are bad, they just lack torque and I think that will never change cause thats the kind of car company Honda is but I guess its worked for them but I think there the only japanese company that this has worked for, most others like Nissan, Mitsu, and even Toyota have decent torque figures comparable to there hp. Honda's do have the advantage of being light and it doesnt take as much hp and torque to make a Honda fast but in the sake of city driving, I for one dont drive in the redline area or past VTEC engagement which is usually in the mid to high 5k range to get the most out of the motor, they make good race motor's thats for sure when your in the high end about 90% of the time, just dont expect to have much low end grunt under 5k RPM. Just my opinion.
Yeah that's pretty much true JDM... no arguments with ya man. Hondas aren't torque monsters, but I like that about them... makes them especially easy to drive, & tame around town. But beware, if you provoke them, they will bite :p
But yeah that's true Honda's probably have the least amount of torque of any car in their respective classes... I never really considered that too much, but that seems to be the case.

Gealousy Mar 01, 03, 12:55 PM Before my g, i've had 2 honda's, well, an integra and a crx, and I loved both of them.. Still ah Honda fan here.... but I'm a NIssan lover for sure....
MestizoKid Mar 01, 03, 05:26 PM Hondas are great cars. Thats why I bought my mom one.:D
Monte300z Mar 02, 03, 05:40 PM 300zx's are a beast
Nismo Mar 03, 03, 10:24 PM I've never driven a type r but someone around here has a really clean yellow one.
I like the way your head kinda buzzes when you reach rpms above 8k... it's addictive.
:]

Gealousy Mar 04, 03, 04:15 PM (Homer Simpson Beer voice): Mmmmm, type R... gooooodd... I'd love a type R.... I NEVER see them in the paper though...
Dirty Sanchez Mar 05, 03, 01:11 AM Our other buddy, who has a 89 Civic hatchback, has a CRV block and a V-tec head on it in his car. I haven't driven it yet, but I hear it accelerates in 5th like most modded civics do in 3rd. That motor has lots of torque, i'll keep you guys posted!
Oh yeah.......http://www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid53/pb56a30c92a99ab4eb35383707b9a4b6c/fc8cebb7.jpg
Nice CR-VTEC in an 89 hatch... V8s beware.
Hey it's the beef lady in that S2000...that's funny :]

Gealousy Mar 05, 03, 03:25 PM ha ha! I didn't realize that's the "where's the beef" lady! ha ha! I wouldn't mind a good old Civic for a commuter (leave dirt and miles off the g)... to bad I'd have to sell a kidney to pay for a years insurance on the two cars....
Dude my insurance is cheaper with the G20 & the Civic, then if I had the G only. No kidding... $30 cheaper per month because of Geico's multiple-car discount :]
My civic stays dirty & my G stays clean :)

Gealousy Mar 06, 03, 03:40 PM really? Maybe I should call and find out what the deal is... I wouldn't mind throwin down on a little 91 crx again.. thanks Mep!
zenfish Mar 14, 03, 03:20 AM i loved my 94 ex more than anyother car. it was my first "real" car and my baby from day one, and i learned most of what i know from it, i think hondas are great reliable cars, that are super easy to work on, a great beginers car, with pleanty of room ofr advancement, if it hadnt been totaled by a fucking drunk, id have it to this day and prolly for many years to come
Bennett @ esg Mar 16, 03, 11:21 PM i feel like im going backwards when i get into my G after driving my brother's 98 GSR. I have dreams about CAI hitting V-tec for days after, i love that sound.
rmjjensen Mar 17, 03, 08:57 AM I drove a Type R once.......oohhhhhhhh weeee! That things got some serious balls. See - you guys are right about them having real bad torque so they don't move in the low end. However, the type r was sooooooooooo free reving ...it just got up to the high revs in NO TIME and absolutely loved it. I'd buy one.
My brother's 2002 Sentra SE-R is the same way.......free rev's like nothing. I don't see the point of a 6 speed in that car - first gear just comes and goes real fast. I'd buy one of those two. Except I did notice that you can get the wheels to spin WAY to easily. And when it did spin, it was ANNOYING to drive...specially around a turn. But def cool on a straight away.
I still love my G just because of the way it looks! Let's face it - most girls just like to sit in a car with leather interior, automatic climate control, and a smoooooooooth ride. I've received nothing but compliments about my G...and the funny thing is - girls think it's fast :p
So.....works for me. I'd drop a turbo in but with an automatic it's pointless. :-\
