soo, i saw a neo 16vvl on ebay for 2 grand. iv already done a sr20 de swap into my p10 when i blew my 220,000 mile motor and i was thinking that i would love to do a 16vvl swap. i was just wondering though, what else would have to be done as far as ecu, sensors, wiring, and would my same tranny bolt up? what about the mounts? is there a write up on how to do this swap? or would it be easier, or even possible to just do a head swap, and what would that involve?

the head are interchangeable, the mounts are the same..there is the ecu, sensors wiring and stuff that you need to take care of and the tranny matches up as well i believe.

offtop, you would have to rewire a couple of sensor plugs, alter your stock distributor, and run wires to the solenoids

what solonoids are you talking about?. is there a write up on this swap? is this a good motor for my car or what?

It would be a great swap as far as a novelty item. As far as use, a 1600cc engine in a 2900 lb car sounds like bad mojo. I like the torque of the DE and bigger VE. Taking that away would make me want for something else. But, that's me.

so the 16 vvl is smaller? i thought it was a sr20 with a 16 valve head. is it not?

the difference lay within the power of the search button as well as google. sorry buddy, but that kind of question doesn't get any simpler than a search...
i'll give you a quick hint: sr20de = 2.0L sr16ve = 1.6L VVL
you can go from there. have fun...

They are all 16 valve.
The VE engines have camshafts with two lobes per pair of valves. The solenoids alter the cam follower so it rides on the high lift/duration lobe at higher revs.

The SR16VE is ~1600cc and the SR20DE and SR20VE are ~2000cc.
