From what I understand, the EGR is system is used to help lower the combustion temp by adding already combusted mixture to the fresh air mixture. This is to help the output of emissions.

I was wondering, if any power would be gained if the EGR system was removed completly.

Removing it will not give you any power increase what so ever. The only reason to remove one from a race car is to reduce the weight. Don't do that on your road car. It won't save enough weight and it would turn your car into a gross polluter.
