Hey the R35 did really good.
It's bone stock and automatic right?
Every other car had years of after-market tuning under the belt.
Good show R35.
Now just imagine the R35 two years from now...

[Vol 91] GTR tuned vs R35
The R35 is bone stock, theres no way to compare besides a stock to stock ratio. I can't wait for some top tuners to get ahold of it and really start fiddling with the electronics.

okay a stock R35 running .2 secs behind massively modified RB26detts I say thats damn good. Hell the R33 was stroked to 2.8L and was pretty bad in its own right
The R32 is the only skyline I lust after. But the new GTR is sexy in a strange automatic more tech than a spaceshuttle kind of way.

I'd rock a R32, otherwise I'd jump the the R35.
I love the body lines of the R32 compared to the rest of the years, yea R34 is a monster looking car, the R32 just appeals to me more.

with in the next year are so he is moveing to CA to open a new shop. this same guy aready has a right hand drive r35 in the usa

Sorry Jaz, you failed on this one. Once the R35 is tuned by an aftermarket parts company, it will do some major damage. It's already hanging with well tuned R32, R33 and R34s, and by this time next year... it will be lights out for the competition.

Imagine if the R32 and R33 were sold in the U.S. when they came out. It'd be so awesome seeing used ones listed on Autotrader. I know most of us would for sure be driveing Skylines instead of G's. I saw a R35 drvieing down the street a month or two ago at 2am drvieing in the oncomeing traffic I almost rolled my car flipping a bitch to catch up with it. Id rock the R33 the 34 is to monster looking for me the 33 is sexy but casual. Only thing that sucks about the R35 the whole transmission is located in the rear of the car. Imagine getting rear ended by some dumb ass in a civic and haveing to replace your tranny. Now that would suck!! oh and has anybody ever heard of the R34 not being a great race car? I got a friend who went to Japan for 4 years and he is PRO nissan but always tells me the R34 is to front heavy and the wheel base is so far in length that it sucks in cornering?

I drove a R35 today for a few miles. It was awesome however I took it easy speed wise as it was at night and not on a closed course. What I really liked was the handling, build quality, and the headlights.
Much faster than my DD P11 but that was not a surprise. My P11 hung in there a bit longer than I thought, when we were messing around.

I don't think it's ignorant... It really shows the potential of the R35. The stock R35 is only fractions of a second slower than two out of three of its tuned ancestors.

i think that most people that will buy the r35 will not even try to mod it since there are so much electronics. i read an article i think it was in the automotive magazine that said that the r35s that were featured in the tokyo show hadto be drivin in and then the parts swaped on sit becasue the car wont even drive with a diffrent set of rims because of the sensors.

That's going to be extremely hard to do in Japan. One of the latest car mags had info on it. I believe it was Sport Compact Car.
In Japan. The car is limited to 120mph... until you go to a race track. Then a satellite sends a signal to the onboard computer to 'release' the MPH restriction on the GTR.
Oh but get this. You have to make sure it's a race track approved by NISSAN. So if it's not... then you're car will still have the 120mph limit function ON!
Also, after you get done racing you must take your car to a official Nissan inspection place. I have no idea why. But you MUST do this. If you do not, you could VOID your warranty!!!
Another thing. Nissan was going after aftermarket companies for tampering with the GTR's ECU and trying to modify it. Kind of gay huh?, it gets better.
There are tire pressure sensors that detect specific things and feed it back to the GTR's ECU. If you try to put on aftermarket wheels. This fucks up the computer and it will throw codes out at you, and put it into limp mode! (great).
Not sure if the US GTR's will have the speed limiting function or the aftermarket wheel BS. But so far, after learning more and more that I keep hearing. This thing sounds like it's not all it's cracked up to be. You basicly CAN NOT MODIFY it. :( What the FUCK was Nissan thinking?
*I'm pretty positive the US GTR's don't have speed limited functions, because Road and Track's writers has a silver one. An it was at a track here locally racing around. Mid America Motorplex. I don't know if it got up past 120mph on the straight away. But it might of been able to. .. who knows.

yha i messed up it was the sport compact that wrote about all of the problems that tuners will face for the 35. blueenya you forgot to mention the after the race inspections that the drivers have to go through, after they take it to a race track that is deemed safe by nessan the owner then needs to take it to a qualified nissan dealership to get a 1000dollar inspection performed and if they dont do so thier warranty will be voided. but i would still take any of the skylines especially any of the rb26dett powered ones, or i would especicially like to get one of the early 70's skylines.

Honestly, it all sounds kinda legit to me. :surprised Ak1m0to's post (http://www.g20.net/forum/showpost.php?p=1021758&postcount=43)shows modified GT-R's, so it's obviously possible, it's just whther you have the GREEN to do it right or not. Sounds like Nissan just doesn't want the "bling bling" from any old company, thrown on the car. :p

The r35 is suppose to be mod resistant and the computer will know when you mods it and cause all sorts of problems, or so I've heard. If it's true give it a year or two and some MIT computer nerd will crack the ecu and allow tuning.

Yeah I would assume they are common over there. They been in production forever. Hell the r32 is what 20 years old. Maybe our focus'es look rare and exotic to them....uh I doubt it.
We never had a skyline in the states. Well, we have the g35 and g37 which are called the skyline gt over there. Which looks damn fine no matter which country your in!

There are a few things with the GTR's motor that when people throw on bolt on turbo kits and boost the power to 700 and above on the stock block, you will have issues. How do i know this? I have talked to the engineers that partially designed the car. Nissan knows about this as well. If someone does too much in the way of upgrades and blow it up, Nissan will dissasemble the motor and if This one particular failure is the result, They will not warranty.
Basically, If you are going to go above 600-650bhp, you will need to build the block, and by that I mean full steel sleeves as well.
as far as cracking the ECU, Cosworth has been doing a piggy back with the stock ECU. you can not eliminate the stock ECU because it controls so much more than just the motor. From what I have heard, to fully modify the programing, just reflashing it is not that simple.
The GTR turbo manifold and turbine housing is one combined unit. Thus you would have to have a manifold and a turbo seperate to upgrade. The only other way is to bore out the stock manifold/turbine housing for a larger wheel, but then you are still limited by clearance to the block. (assuming the turbo is stuck very close)
