Sorry I'm kinda anti-A4. I don't really have too much for a luxury Jetta, 0.27 coefficent of drag and 1.8T engine or not. :paranoid:

It might also have to do with the fact that I'm racing an A4 this summer... it's owned by an ex-girlfriend's current squeeze. I especially like that she is not on his side for this run ~ rather... she'd love to see me teach him that body kits and lowering springs don't make you fast. :p Ahhh.... freeway run.

I was going to get an A4 before I got my G20 (Audi dealer problems) but I dont know what would have been the better choice. My car as it is would take a chiped auto A4 (what I would have had) and the G20 looks a lot better than the A4. But the Audi has a better name behind it and is also a great car on many levels with rave reviews. There is also a larger after market for the A4. It also comes with a turbo stock, which is a great start with any car. IMO I would take the A4 if it was a stick shift but if its an auto, keep the G20.

I agree that the A4 is a good car, but I don't think Audi is a better name. Audi has only become popular in the last half-decade, and has had some serious reliability issues, wheras Infiniti has not and is just as prestigious of a badge, especially now with the release of the G35s. And it only has a turbo because a 1.8 I4 isn't going to produce much without a turbo or serious tuning. The 3.0 6 maybe, but the 1.8T just doesn't impress me. I'd rather have a G35.

You can get a bigger turbo for the 1.8t boosting it to somewhere around 250 hp. Audi is quite prestigious now, up there with Benz and Bimmer. theyre crankinout cars like the RS4 and RS6. Its def got more prestige being german and alll...but dont get me wrong, i LOVE infiniti and i will get the G35 SC as SOON as i can afford it. Its just that when u tell a person you have an Infiniti or an Audi, the Audi will draw more "wow's"

thats just my .02

I disagree.

I think BMW and Mercedes are still the marquee luxury name plates with Mercedes getting the luxury edge and BMW with the performance.
Lexus and Audi are second tier.
Finally Infiniti slots in between Acura and those listed above only because they are finally brining out non-rebadged cars and the new G/FX/Q have gone a long way to improving Infiniti in this market. Still not on par with Lexus yet but getting a lot closer in the last year. Witness the ass kicking the IS300 gets from the G35.

I’m not taking into account American manus like Lincoln, Jag and Cadillac but IMO they are close to Acura but a little lower. Of course I'm missing other like Volvo, Rolls Royce, Bentley and Saab but I don't want to make this overly complex. :p

If you are really into trying to impress people.

Mine too...it's just all my opinion so it don't mean shit in the grand scheme of things. :dead:

My bro in law and I went to Atl. specifically looking for A4s and G20s. Hended up getting exactly what you described but its an auto with tiptronic. Lots of aftermarket stuff available. $13,250 42K miles. I dont blame him, I wouldnt have passed it up! Good luck on your search if you havent already settled on one!

I dont *necessarily* need to be labeled as having a nice car. Yeah i want to impress people with my car as do most people but my car is for mine for me. I get a nice car because i like it. Then if it happens to impress people, more power to the car.
All im saying is, as stated in a previous thread, Audi isnt as prestigious as Infiniti. Im arguing that it is...if not more, people might be more impressed with an A8 than a Q45...Personally it doesnt make a huge difference to me. It matters but not to the point where i will get a worse car overall for the name

LOL anywya i cleared that up...
I believe that Audi is coming back. It will soon be up there with Benz and Bimmer. It has the performance that BMW doesnt have because of the Quattro. No, its not there yet, but i view it as part of the "German Luxury Big 3". anyway. theyre good cars with a good AWD system and thats the bottom line...
my .02 yet again

If you think Infiniti is more prestigious than Audi, then you need to do a lot more reading. There is a lot more to a company's prestige than the USA, and I think Infiniti definitely ranks lower on the totem pole since it doesnt even exist outside North America.

The A4 is also Audi's entry level car in the USA. The S4 or the turbo A6 are both kickass cars.

Audi, VW and Porsche are also entirely intertwined.

Greg was that directed towards me? I never said Nissan was more prestigious. I simply stated from what I have read the repair history on Audis is very expensive. So far on my g20 I haven't had to do anything :).

i think he may have directed it towards me cuz i made a typo in my thread...i was saying i was referring to the previous post that someone believed infiniti is more prestigious than audi but i DO NOT agree. Audi is def higher than infiniti...just wanted to clear up some misconceptions:paranoid:

No sweat... I thought it was a little shocking that someone was dissing a company like Audi, so I chimed in ;). Dont get me wrong, I do love Infiniti and for the money cars like the G35 and Q45 simply cant be beat. On the other hand, I'd take an Audi over a similarly-priced Mercedes any day.

Yeah they are expensive to repair, but they are expensive German cars. Ever bought parts for a BMW? $$$

if you buy a new german car and just keep it while it is under bumper to bumper warranty (4 years or 50k miles is the norm), then why bitch about repair costs? ...cause it'll be a moot point!

That is why I never got a bmw or an audi or a mercedes ;). Plus it just isnt in my right mind being the crazy driver i am and having to worry abouut shelling out alot of cash to fix the damn thing wasnt what i had in mind. Maybe when I get older and I am rolling in the dough being a pharmacist ;) then I'll go get me an m3 or something sweet like that. In the end they are all great cars, just mad $$$ to repair.

Hmmm...I always thought it was called Nissan. Thats like saying lexus isnt as prestigious cuz its only in America, yet toyota is world wide. ill tell you this, Infiniti is really stepping up as a contender this year. They are finally advertising the way they shoulda before and its a good thing to see. Whos better? Of course that comes down to personal taste, but you gotta give love when due...

You know what would be fucking cool? If you converted your p10 to awd some how... and then put a turbo on that bad boy. Thatd be tight.

yeah imagine if the g20 was awd and they threw in the sr20det here in the united states. damn it would have been the perfect car. I heard also that they are bringing the A3 here which is a Golf with leather.................just kidding, but it really is. so even audi just rebages thier cars, some of them. i think that if infiniti has been arround as long as these other makes then there would be no doubt who the top would be. it takes any new make a while to gain some recognition which Infiniti is finally getting. Imagine if we all keep our cars for 30 more years, by then Infiniti will be unstopable and we can sell our cars at Barrett Jackson.................would be great, but untill then i am damn proud of what i own today.
