View Full Version : STILL no VVL! MSS drama

So it's been about a month and still am not able to get the VVL to work with the MSS. I redid the wiring on the solenoids today just to make sure that wasn't the problem (each has its own constant wired to the battery), but still nothing. We turned the activation points all the way down to see if the idle would change any, but nothing. Although I was able to hear a quick click, which I would assume that would mean the solenoids are working. Took it for a spin to make sure it wasn't lack of oil pressure at idle, but no activation.
So I'm lost here. Double-checked all the settings and everything seems fine. Help me out here, guys!
have you verified the MSS is sending signal at all? simple test would be to use a test light (or voltage meter) and see if the wires going to the solenoids are getting power at the set RPMs. If you're getting power when you're supposed to, then make sure the solenoids themselves are working.
This is just some basic electrical troubleshooting, don't know enough about the VVL to help beyond that. Is this a full engine swap or just the head?

Check the solenoids to make sure they're working, and they're clicking. So that doesn't seem to be the problem.

It's a brand spankin' new MSS, so I doubt it's the unit. I'm assuming I may have to change to a different pin on the ECU. I'm also going to remove them and check to see that they're not clogged.
Any other thoughts??
