Mods: None.....yet

Hey guys, last week I picked up my first car and first Infiniti in the family. It is a black 1999 with black interior, and 93,xxx on the odo. We picked it up local for $4,100 off of craigs list. I love the car, altho the auto tranny kinda kills the zip of the engine. Here are some pictures from the seller for you guys....

Altho I do have some questions for you guys.
1. When the car shifts from first to second I get some pretty bad shift shock. Ive been reading on some sites but only one has mentioned this, is this normal?
2. Ive been skimming the forums and I've been looking at all of the mods. What do you guys suggest are the best ones to start off with? I have some knowledge about cars and how things work, but there is no way I can do something major like a tranny swap without help. I was thinking of starting off with a cold air intake to give the car a bit more "zip". I was reading about someone recommended a ingen intake. Can anyone point me in the right direction to get one?
3. As you can see in the pictures my headlight covers are all gunked up, I took some novis scratch remover for plastics to them, yet it did not help. Where can I get replacement covers?
4. Would doing a HID projector mod be cheaper than just getting some JDM duals?
5. Where can I get one of those spiffy G20.net license plate cover? I looked in the store but there was nothing under that category.

Thanks for all the help guys. I know I'm a G20 noob but all help is greatly appreciated.

Jake

Well first off Welcome to the net. second as far as mods are concerned you should start with a few bolt on such as CAI or WAI and go with some SSAC style headers that can be found on ebay for a decent price then exhaust and work your way from there.

Search around the forum and you shall find. and once again welcome

Most of the intakes listed in that thread are no longer there. HotShot, ingen, and others don't list them for g20s on their site. All I can find are short ram intakes. Can anyone point me in the direction for a nice intake?

For the headlights try some rubbing compound and a power buffer, then some plastX with the buffer. i spent about an hour per light, and that worked wonders on mine. Now about a year later they are starting to look like i need to do it again but still not as bad as they were.

as far as the intake i went with a short ram for my AT.....i made it out of a integra intake. just needed to mod a maf addapter and get a cone filter on there then change out the stock rubber tube with piping. my setup made 123HP 118TQ before i changed out the stock rubber tube(should make more now) with header and greddy evo exhaust. im working getting all the bolt ons including cams and safc2 to try and see where the AT ends up after i get done(before i go 6spd)

welcome! I would say tune-up your car first then buy some CAI but I've noticed you're in chicago and there's a snow there so WAI is better for you and some headers.

Anyone know where the bumper cover screws are located? My bumper seems to be loose.

in the trunk underneith the carpet there should be some round plastic plugs on the floor. These pop off and underneath are some bolts - you undo these bolts and then there are screws on the rear wheel wells that you take out too. then it should come right out
