I have a 2001 Boxster S....I'm tired of it and I want to trade it in.

It has like every option. and the hardtop. So I'll probably get like 50g's for it....only 15,000 miles

So my choices would be.....
1) 2003 BMW M3 SMG
2) 2003 Mercedes Benz E500 (moderately equipped)
3) 2002 BMW M5 (has like 6,000 miles on it)

I was going to just save up like 20grand and just blow it all at once on the G20 ... but I think I'll trade in my car first and then hook up the G20... cuz I need a decent daily driver...the boxster isn't cutting it.

Toss up between the M3 and M5. :-\ I'd have to drive each one and decide. I'd probably lean toward the M3. That SMG is just TOO sweet! But then again reliability might be an issue since it's so new. Maybe the M5 then.

If you got tired driving the Boxster on a daily basis... it does get tiring after a distance, I have a feeling you'd get the same thing in the M3 --- but maybe not so much with the SMG :)


...I'd vote for the M3 convertible over the Mercedes any day of the week!

I just don't care for the quality of Mercedes vs. BMW.. but that is just me..

BTW: I've found out that the 3 series BMW is the most reliable of the BMW line.... and the 7 series has the most problems followed by the 5 series.... so I'd stick with the M3 SMG if I were you...


...but if you were even considering the Mercedes, take a ride in the SC430 and then decide!!!!!!

BTW: You CAN upgrade the suspension and intake and exhaust on the SC430 to make it more sporty... Tien has a sport suspension kit and some folks have put on an H&R coil over system and been really happy with the results...

My friend has an sc430 with tein's and its freakin sweet....jut don't know if that car is for me though...but the car without any flaws is awesome.

You gotta decide what you want, obviously the M3 is a pretty dedicated sportscar and the M5 is also a pretty dedicated sports sedan although it could serve more purpose's then the M3, then you got E500 which is more luxury then the 2 BMW's but can roast the tires with the best of them if you wanted it and also be a executive car so you first gotta decide what you want and need.

Sorry about my comments on the E500, I dont know why I though I saw E55 which is a completely different beast, the new E500 definitely doesnt hold a stick in terms of performance to the 2 BMW's, more luxury then anything else so its basically a war of performance(BMW) and luxury(MB).

The E55 isn't out yet is it????

My boyfriend had one for a while.. picked up a used 96 GTS coupe with only 8K miles for $50K... resold it for $48K

That car was stupid fast! ....and NEVER will it be considered a girly car! LOL

I'm not really into vipers or corvettes...I give them the respect that they deserve but not really into them... I prefer a powerful luxury car. 8 )

Out of the ones you posted, I think the M3 would be my choice though (only because the M5 is a bit overkill and reliability issue... super sweet car though).
You guys must be serious car freaks though... My dad was making about 2mil a month right after ebay went public, and he went to town and bought a bone stock new corvette and a truck. He seemed to think he couldnt really afford an exotic (cant anymore though with the present market conditions, and uh, taxes:x )

I had the G20, Boxster, and a ML55 for a little while. I sold the ML55 cuz it was running up on miles. The G20 they don't know I have it.

Its my project. Its my hobby car. I wanna make that thing beautiful as can be.

I think if I got a DB7 or Aston Martin or Modena....my parents would rip my head off and shove it up my ass.

They were going to drop kick my ass when I got the Boxster they were like (why do you need two cars!!!) hahahhaha

If I were you and had money like that I'd probably do something to invest most of it and then import either a skyline gtr or a badass pulsar gti-r and get that thing rolling.... awd, they are small and light so it'd be potential for a badass car. But I can see you like high end cars so just throwin out some ideas.

....right now my stocks are worth absolute crap and loosing value every day... I don't want to sell because I want to at least break even.... ....only that might not happen any time soon :(

Because of how long and hard I saved and yeared for that car, I doubt I'd ever sell it... It just has so much meaning and value to me in so many different ways...

Now my Lexus, I love it.. don't get me wrong... but I'd have an easier time reselling it if I had to (IE.. worse market, job loss, etc.) ... heck, I'd sell my Lexus and New Beetle AND refinance my townhome mortgage before considering selling my beloved 911!!!


BTW Guys.... I've had my shares of UPs and Downs... I've been laid off twice in my life... the first time was 8 months and the 2nd time was 5 months... It wasn't fun to be dirt broke poor during those times and unable to do much of anything.... :( ..I managed to get though it without loosing my home and without starving though :)

...oh, and BTW: let me tell you that UNEMPLOYMENT DOES NOT CUT it for paying a mortgage!!!! ..my unemployment was only enough for utilities, food, gas for my car (to get to interviews), insurance (auto/home)....

I was thankful for savings I had at the time to help me get through it all..

Right now I'm actually in a really bad spot because with my stocks going down in value every day, I have little to no savings right now... :(

I think that new 5 series is nice. For some reason the shape of the front end reminds me of the new accord. Those front lights are nice and I really like the way it mimicked the 7 series styling cause I love that car.

I would prefer the oriental woman to some of the other crap bug eye looks that are out.

Have you ever driven an AMG??? Automatic means shit when you drive an AMG. Those AMG engines have like negilgable lag time and the auto isn't bad at all whatsoever.

AMG cars are really nice. I love the body kits. All they need now is some more manuals! i think u can get the C32 AMG in a manual, not sure though

BMW has a new designer(or design team) and we can thank those people for making the Z4, new 7-series, and the brand new 5-series. BMW is losing its look, a 2000 740 looks way more pimp than a new one, and i thought the z4 got bad lines also. This new 5 looks like a little too curvy i think, but its definitely not as bad a difference as the 7series was.
