When my alternator went bad, I think it happened shortly after my radiator blew and the fans sprayed coolant all over my engine bay, naturally some got on the alternator...

The lights on the dash would appear randomly, sometimes when I hit potholes, sometimes not at all... Then it became more regular, they would be on in the morning and when I first start driving the car, but were off for most of the rest of the day, finally towards the end of its life, the lights were off only on at freeway speeds most of the time, but the second I stop for a red light and begin city driving it was constantly blinking every time I stop and go... Hope my experience somehow helps you...

Is it still easy to replace alternators with turbo in the car and manifold?

Or do you have to take it out?

I thought I was going to have to take out the turbo and manifold but I didnt have to. I'm running a slim fan on the passenger side of the radiator so what I did was removed the radiator hose and support bracket. Once those came off I had enough room to remove the big bolt holding the alternator in and had to wiggle it out while pulling back on the radiator to get some more clearance. Over all it took me about 40 minutes to remove the old one and install the new one.
