    What is a "maf?"

I read about a problem with the maf in 2000+up models but when I searched this on the forum, I got "maf" results which doesn't tell me what it is.
    Thanks.

Mass airflow sensor. It's a sensor in your intake piping that measures air going in to your engine. They are a little problematic on some models. Sometimes the ground goes bad in them, causing poor fuel consumption and make the car not run at it's best. The ground problem can be repaired, but if the sensor is bad you will have to replace it.

Thanks! I'll read up on this - maybe this is why I don't get the mileage I was expecting from this car.

I responded in your other thread, what sort of MPG's are you getting (You may want to start an MPG's bad thread in the maintenance section to get ideas about all possible solutions)

I get about 22-24 MPG depending on the weather, mostly stop-and-go driving. I was expecting better but maybe I'm wrong and I haven't measured it lately. Once in awhile, there's also a little surge when I start to go from a fully stopped position. The car has about 98,000 miles on it.
