Nope, I'm not sure when people are leaving. Not even sure when I'm leaving, we are planning on visiting family so we may leave a week early.
Let's get some cool ideas for things to do.
Only rule is at least half of your suggestions have to be leagal.
if you want to stay in utah for a night i could arrange for a place. we could stay at my place here in ogden (about 40 minutes north of slc). i dont have anybody to stay with in SLC as of right now.
im down for driving together, i know the way till we get to cali (stay on the same freeway till cali border)
and since we all have the same car we can plan gas stops and food instead of stopping every 20 miles (like i did last time cuz they were trailering the g20, uh i swear the trip took forever, but at least it was fun)
Chicago, I'll be taking 80 all the way.
How far of a drive is it from SLC? I'll be having a friend with me aswell. I'm planning on staying with some friends in denver the first night and don't know if I want to make the trip from denver to the ranch in one day.
from SLC its about 12 hours. from my house north of slc its under 13 hours from my door to javi's
With food and gas stops heading TO cali, we made it in 13 hours. coming home i didnt track it much much but im guessing much less than 13 hours since it was just one car flying down the freeway.
i have access to a valentine1 radar detector and for freeway runs, its dope.
Quite unsure if I should stop in denver or just shoot right for SLC in the first day.
slc is 8 hours (going pretty fast w/out radar detector)
can you make that drive?
Google maps says 21 hours, I think Im going to pass on that one. No way in hell I can do 21 hours of driving in one day. I have an escort 8500 but it's not much help if I get hit with laser.
21 hours! yeah not a great idea. maybe stock up on monster energy?
highway patrol in my experience doesnt use laser as much because the range on infared in much futher, with cars going at faster speeds that extra distance is important because as soon as people see the trooper, they slow down.
we didnt use the radar on the way home and we saw 4-5 cops the whole way, we were fine going whatever speed we wanted really.
Keep it between 70-80mph on open highways & you should be fine. Of all my cross country trips & trips to SD, Bay Area, LV, AZ, & SLC ive only been pulled over & cited once by a cop that looked like Buford T. Justice in BFE Texas back in 9-1-01. As long as you dont have CA plates, you should be good.
Its almost 17 to denverDos'nt help my passenger dosnt have a license...stupid women. IL state cops love to use laser and because the state is so broke they will nail you for anything they can. They just put new laws into place where 30 over will net you a 1,500.00 fine and up to 6 months in jail and 40 over will get you a 2,500 fine and up to a year in jail. Also have a law where if your under 21 and you get two tickets in two years you lose your license for a minimum of 30 days.
Thought cops love to pull over out of state-ers because there's little chance of them coming back and fighting the ticket? Also theres no way I can get a ref ticket while in CA can I?
[QUOTE=hobbs;1464271]Chicago, I'll be taking 80 all the way.
Thats cool...my dad was born and raised in South Side of Chicago..actually in Burbank and I currently have family in Orland Park
I did part of that drive when I drove from Boise to Florida and back...On the way there I drove through Neb and on the way back through Colorado and up through Wyoming
Roads trips can be fun!
Do you have a radar detector? You can do the 17 hours! Just drink a lot of coffee lol.
In my previous post, I went from Boise to Kansas City, MO! It was like 23 hours straight
with stops to get gas and food. I made myself stop because the sun was starting to
rise.
^^ I've never used radar dectors but I recently have used Trapster on my G1 on trips that are 150mi or greater, so far its cool & free. Other than that is using common sense, taking advantage of them rest stops for restroom & nap breaks & stuff like that.
Btw, im more worried about Speed Cameras such like the ones posted up on AZ highways!
