    Is my transmission dead?

    Hello all,

Some of you may recall my post earlier regarding a bad axle which is now fixed. Today, however, I ran into something rather more serious. I went to school today, parked, and went off to grab a coffee. Upon my return some 40 minutes later, I noticed something weird about my clutch pedal. It is softer than usual, but it still moves back and fourth. Next, I tried to start the car and it turned on without any issues, but I cannot engage in any gear. Then I turned the car off to see what is going on. When the car is off, I can move freely between gears, but as soon as I turn it on, I am stuck in neutral again.

I popped the hood and check all my fluid levels and they were all okay, and I don't see any leaks anywhere. So then I tried again, but started my car in gear with the clutch pedal down. The car bogs down right away and lurches forward.

I think something is causing my clutch to be stuck on engage and as a result, causing my car to stall whenever I try to start it. What do you guys think could have caused this?

Well, I got the car towed to a shop and they opened up the transmission housing. The culprit? A snapped release fork. The good news is that my clutch itself has only about 10% left, so I can use this chance to replace everything i need to do as well.

I try to comfort myself saying its better to have the snapped fork first, rather than after replacing the clutch and returning to open it up again.
