calling for all g's on coilovers.

im in the process of trying to prove something to ksport and show them that our 3rd links rub the coils and they NEED to do something about it to avoid the shock rods from bending like mine did. so i need pics of coils that havent been moded to clear 3rds and have signs of 3rd link rub and or bent rods because of 3rds. All they need to do is make offsetted top mounts (like how bc or agilities are) or mod the lower sleeves(like fortune), but im supposably the ONLY person that has ever brought this to their attention and i must have either improperly installed the coils or misused them which voids their warrenty. so if you guys could help a brotha out. i can just email them and link to this thread.

this is what happens when you use your car on a daily and on ksports. shit im even as low as i want to be and it still happend to me.

you could go with new third links

or if you get the camber adjusting mounts from ksport, you could possibly set them to the most negative setting. obviously you wont adjust the camber but wouldnt that help offset them. just an idea. i dont run ksports or have i ever seen them in person but i was just throwing something out there.

You may be thinking of the upper link or upper control arm. 3rd link is the vertical part the with the bottom shock mount location. The 3rd link leans over enough when the car is lowered, because the upper link/upper control arm swings up and in. When the 3rd link leans in it contacts the lower end of the shock body. This is why I mod the 3rd links to eliminate this issue.

There's a little fact about modding cars that virtually no one here seems to know of, or believe. It's ultimately the installers decision whether or not a part fits and/or should be used on the car.

    so....

back to the coilover issue: All coilovers, (even with offset topmounts?) will suffer from hitting the third link? unless modified/custom links are purchased?

I would've thought that, over the years, suspension companies would've noticed this....

When you take coilovers and have them adjusted to heights beyond any measure of factory spec, you have to almost expect things not to work right, or even break. Engineers didn't design the suspension to work at these dimensions.

my front right ZPs touch the third link but i havent looked at the since i put them on. I assume they are not bent as I have seen no adverse effects... how did you all spot your problems?

how does one mod the third link? this is an issue and needs to be taken care of.
