Question Engine Oil Choice for 1996 SR20DE (P11)

    Guys,
Can anyone tell please tell me what is the factory recommended engine oil choice/grade to be used in a 1996 SR20DE ?

I was reading on SE-R.net where they were leaning towards
5W-30 & 10W-30 oils but those were for engines even older than mine. Can anyone say if the same applies for the newer SR20s ?

    Thanks in advance guys !

    Engine Oil Choice for 1996 SR20DE (P11)
    Well, a 1996 G20 is actually a P10 in the US. Is it a P11 in Jamaica? That's cool!

And, yes, the oil choices are still the same. Recommended oil viscosity for the SR20DE is 5W30. Others run synthetics and some people run 10W30 and do not seem to have too many issues, but Nissan posted a TSB a few years ago stating that engine wear, timing chain clatter, and driveability problems could occur using 10W30 in our engines.

With that said, I only use Castrol GTX or Valvoline 5W30 in mine every 3,000-3,500 miles.

    Guess it's personal opinion.

    Question

Guys could someone say how 20W50 oil would stand up in temperate caribbean climate. A regular day can be anywhere between say 75 and 90 degrees farenheit. Would this play a major part in the oil choice or would the 5W30 still be the way to go?

BTW, has anyone in fact ever used Castrol Syntec 5W50 ? If yes, what's your take on it ???
