    Battery draining problem

So my car hasn't started up 3 times this week because of a dead battery. I checked all the lights and everything made sure everything is off. It takes about 2 days for it to drain enough so it won't start. I did a parasitic load test and found that there is excess drain. I pulled fuses and the drain stops when i pull the room lamp fuse. It seems like that fuse affects my cabin lights, the alarm, and my cd player. I checked the amp and it isn't the problem. I guess it could be the cd player, but that doesn't seem right, I'll check that soon...

This is really wierd because I havn't done anything to my car in more than 3 weeks and I just started having problems. But then again I was starting my car up every day, lately I havn't been driving as much.

Any ideas to what could be draining the battery? I believe it is the stock battery so its 5 years old, maybe the battery is going bad?

could be a cell going bad in the battery. im having similar problems now and have already changed the battery and still have probs. either a short or alternator for me. id get the battery tested while on the car (auto-zone?)

Dude, that battery is old as hell and by letting it sit more often than usual will drain it. Probably have a bad cell. Replace it and see what happens. BTW, some parasitic draw is normal.

Yea, hey, I opened up the vents on the battery and looked inside. It was totally dry. I put some distilled water in it. I don't know if it will start working right, I guess I'll find out. Thanks for the replys

I had my battery replaced last week as the old one was putting out only 250 CCA. The new battery is putting out 790 CCA. But, I noticed my car had a hard time starting yesterday so I had CAA do a battery drain test and it showed something is drawing 1.83A. It shouldn't be any higher than 0.4A so something is causing an excessive drain. I made sure all the lights are off and nothing is left on. The next thing to check is a lose ground but there's so many grounds in the car. Any idea which ground could be problematic so I can focus on that area first?

I had a mechanic redo the drain test & it came back normal. The CAA technicien did the test when the dome light was on. The dome light stays on for 60 secs after a door is shut. Turned out I needed a new starter. All is well now. Thanks to all those people that replied. ;-)
