Should I buy a P11
I used to own a '93 P10 till I totalled it back in 2002. I am now in the market for a solid used 99- 03 car, want to spend 15k max. I loved the P10 that I owned but am wondering if I should a P11 or something else like an Acura 3.2TL or CL, 3-Series, Prelude SH, or Maxima SE. My P10 drove smooth and it was fun but I was always wanting more power. I want a car with about 170 -200hp. Why should I spend 11k - 14K for a P11 when I could get a more powerful car with the same luxury amenities as a P11 if I choose the above mentioned cars? Help pursuade me!

Well you've already had a P10 so you know how great G20's can be. You should get a P11 expecially a 99t. They are getting cheaper now and you can pick them up for around 9-10 grand. Then that would leave you 4 grand to do a nice motor swap, and drop a det in it. Then your P11 would be faster then any ove the cars you mentioned. The only other car I would tell you to look at is the Max.
Don't do honda its just played out. Get a car with class, and that is not associated with burning rice or hamsters.
Buy a TL, and good luck with those trannies. I have heard horror stories about the trannies they put in those things, especially the 99's.
I don't know what 99+ 3 series your gonna get for 11-14k those cars are still more expensive then that. Plus maintinence on those cars are really expensive.
If you need to be persuaded you've come to the right place. I doubt anyone here is going to tell you to get anything else. Especially not a honda. Just go look in the gallery, many nice pics to persuade you there.

Trust me, I want an Infiniti but the G35 is out of my range for now. My thinking is to buy a car with the power and not have to do anything to upgrade performance. I love the way the P11's look and I don't mind getting one but power is the concern. I don't know anything about motor work so I can't do a motor swap myself. In addition, I don't know any shops in my area that could do a swap for me. Also, this car would be my daily driver so I wouldn't be able to have a long down time for a swap.

Still go with P11. If your in in depth with motor work there are many bolt on's you can do ie: intake, exhaust. That would free up some horse power. I know it isnt the fastest thing around, but the motor is widely known and parts are inexpensive. Plus gas mielage is pretty damn good, and for a daily driver its great. If you can get over the power issure then I am gonna tell you to look at the Max. Just remeber the G is rarer, and has a little more class to it.

stock rocks!
I would definately go with the P11 over the other cars you mentioned. As far as the acura trannys go all I have to say is my friend has a 2001 CL type S and he is on his fourth tranny. The car still has under 100k miles on it. I think all the other cars are going to be more than the P11 anyway. Except maybe the prelude. I drove my brother in laws for a month when my 240 was in the shop. It has the performance you want but dam is the interior ugly. Plus it made a lot of noise. Interior squeeked and the suspension always made funny pops and clicks. It's not as high quality as a p11. I have nothing bad to say about the maxima though. It would be between those two for me. The Max has power and luxury. But I would still take a turbo p11 over a max anyday.

Eh, if you weren't happy in the P10, don't get a P11... I loved everything about my P10, so that's why I got a P11... Still love my P11, and I don't think it's underpowerd, but, that's just me... I know a lot of people wish it was more powerful but, I'm not an "off the line" kinda guy... I just wanted a car that rolls nice, looks great and can handle well. That's why I love the G20, but, if you don't like the power it comes with, then you should look at a diffrent make/model, or plan on moddin the hell outta the P11..
my dimes n' nickels..

Go do this. Don't buy shit. Just go drive cars. I drove a P11. Same as a P10. Smooooth. Just has newer kooler gizmos in it.
I also drove a 98 Nissan Altima.. that thing fucking sucks. It's about as unsafe feeling as my mom's 97 Cavalier she had.
OUTTA MY WAY ..... MY PANTIES ARE IN A BUNCH!!!

No offense to anyone who owns a 98 altima, no offense but that car is UGLY!!!! I agree with BlueEnyaMix. Go for some test drives. I've had my eve on a nice 98 prelude for a while now. Sweet car and I LOVE the styling. 195-200 horses stock. Only downshide it still lack of torque and that thing weighs a good 3000 pounds. It's a porker, albeit a pretty one. A maxima Se would be nice also but just not my stlye. I can't comment too much on acuras but they do have some nice looking competent cars. And BMW's are alwas classy but inless you get something exclusive like an M5 or Z8, everyones got one. I own a P10 and I love it to death. And I can only imagine that a P11 would be more of the same. But I can feel you on the power thing. If you can find one cheap enough get it and just do the swap. I'm sure someone on this great site of ours would be willing to help turbo another G and you'd learn something in the process. And you'd toast every other car on your list while being classy all at once.

Pick up a nice 99 G20T like was said and get all the bolt-ons, advance the timing and call it a day.

Those of us that are proud P11 owners dont feel we have to justify their purchase to anyone. I don't think youre worthy to own a P11!

if you are looking at honda or acura, IMHO the p11 is much better all around.. I can't stand how loud and obnoxious the revs can be heard in the cockpit of any honda or acura (I guess that is just me)
...anyway, I think you'd be pretty darn happy with an 02 p11 sport.. and you should easily be able to find one with your price in mind!!
good luck!

Well, I went out this past weekend and check out some P11's. I found this one and I like it. http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.js...or=&cardist=14
They're asking $11,500 and it has 78k miles, 5spd and black leather interior. I think I can talk them down to 9,500. It's not the color I want but it's a sweet car, I say there's a 50% chance I'll get it.

Oh ya, it drives real smooth, just like how my dead P10 did but with more gizmos and a little quiter. If I do get this car, I'm not messing around--it's straight to the shop for the F-max turbo or if I can find a place to swap a BB det for me.

YIKES!! doesn't adding a turbo lessen the reliablility of the p11 overall????
