what is this hose on the '00+ sr

the p10s have that little black box in its place
oil catch line?

If it's the one I'm looking at, it's a vacuum line. But I'm not totally sure from your description which hose you're asking about. The blue plug is below the vc, so I don't understand how the hose can be under that but also on the vc...? But if the black box you're talking about is the AIV, then I would say it's a vacuum hose.

p.s. your engine bay looks great! I like the CAI arrangement better than the Hotshot, but I'm assuming you had to do some custom-fitting yourself. Is that a stock MAF?

sorry man its not my engine bay ... it was the best pic i could find of what i was tryin to show
the 'blue plug' = in the middle of that pic about an inch from the bottom, its the connector to the header sensor
the hose i'm referring to is the one that begins the right top corner about 1/2 inch above that 'plug' at the valve cover(in that pic), it is covered in part by that white loose heat shield made of what feels like almost cloth/plastic

oh! sorry for the mixup (still gotta say it's a nice engine bay though!)
I'm still not entirely sure which one you're talking about, but if you mean the hose that runs from the bunghole of the vc, then I think you're right and it's for catching excess gear oil. But I'm no mechanic, so others weigh in on this, because now I want to know too!

The RR motors dont have an external oil catch can like both the regular low and highport SR's do. Apparently the new valve cover has built in baffles that act as the oil catch can.
