    pulleys on a rr motor?

my friend was telling me that putting after market pulleys on a roller rocker head might mess up ur engine. something about the stock ones are counter weight. these pulleys coming from a 91 nx.

also. would the headers from his car fit mines too. i overheared something once about the b pipe stretching out too low and if ur car is lowered their might be some clearence problems.

Your friend doesnt know what hes talking about, theres countless people that run the UR pulleys on the RR motors including a Miami member here (TRAG). I know someone locally in Kendall who is selling their GEN 5 Hotshot header made for the P11, let me know if you are interested, its not worth getting some old school headers, but because its for an SR20 it should fit with no problems regardless.

If you have any technical questions you should ask our very own local SR20 expert, Andreas Miko.

do u know if they would mess up the sr20ve engine. we are driving up to orlando to pick one up on sunday with some other goodies. but he has the ur pulleys on his motor already but was told it would mess up his ve. and that it might mess up the r.r. head. the headers would be a hand me down. i think their gen 3. i know the gen 5s would be good. but if its free why not take it.

I thought with the RR engine you should only put on the 2-piece set?

Where is your friend getting this information from? Im sure the DE pulleys wouldnt bolt right on the the VE and he shouldnt even try it. The RR motor can only use the 2-pulley set like Dsgns claimed. If the header is free then go ahead and take it, that sound pretty good, but youll have to weld the 02 sensor after the cat or the check engine light will come on. How much is he getting the motor from because we can get them down here for an awesome price and they are clean ass motors with low mileage.

sr20forum members. and he has the two set so yea. than those are gonna go on my car. the headers will have to wait till i get someone to weld it. which shouldnt be to hard. he is getting the engine from a 97 primera. low miles. with act clutch lighten flywheel and the msd switch for the vtech. i think he is paying around 1500 for everything.

Oh ok, not a bad price for the motor and the stuff hes getting with it to power up the VVL. The two set will fit on your car, that balencing BS is a myth, it will work fine with no problem.

D with the RR motors can put both sets 2 or 4.

Heres the catch, I have the 2 piece set right now. It works fine and smooths out the motor. This is the only mod I have on the motor right now and it makes the car rev fast, aside of the flywheel too which is still clutchnet.

However in order for the 2k and up to fit the 4 piece set, we would need to change our alternator to a 99 for the pully to fit.

The 2k and up alternator doesnt fit with the UR pullies.

    Thats the catch.

The issue regarding pulley kits for 00+ RR SR20DE's have been discussed before although very briefly. Here's what you guys are looking for; read the 4th post down from Andreas Miko.

Sorry about that bro...I had the same intentions.

I remember emailing Adreas Miko back in Aug. of '03 I believe, and he replied with the same message regarding aftermarket pullies but added that there was no way to tell when and how long til the bearings wear out.

Hit up "Rooster", he's got an 00+ P11 w/ UR's installed also if you want some feedback.

Thats funny because Andreas Miko installed them on Trag's car and will be installing it on mines. Ill call him today and ask him what he thinks of it now.

let us know what andreas says. very interesting as i know of at least 5 people on b15sentra.net that have had the 2 peice ur pulley installed for years, and none of them have problems.

i would think that with the lower (6800rpm) redline the lack of the dampner wouldn't be as big of a deal as let's say a a rr motor with a higher (7200+rpm) redline.

^^but that is just theory. i would be curious as to what he says though dom. keep us posted.

Hey Dom, if you can get the info from Andreas, that would be great. I wouldn't mind getting the 2 pc UR.

my question wasnt if the 4 or 2 would fit. i know the two would fit. its just if it would mess up anything in the engine as far as internal stuff

For all you SR20DE 2000-01, SR16VE and SR20VE owners, do not, I repeat, do not put any type of aftermarket pullies on your crank. These motors have a 4 counter weight crank shaft that is prone to vibrations in the higher RPMs. If you put a aftermarket pully that does not have a dampener in it like the UR pullies you will have premature bearing wear in your motors and also you can have problems with your clutch bolts or flywheel bolts coming loose. Be my guest and f-ck up your motors.

    Andreas Miko

so than why would he say that?
