    State specific specialty tags?

I live in Delaware and we have the option of getting a historic plate. These tags are porcelain plates that are replicas of the original Delaware license plates. To get this you must have a 5 digit plate number and it must be under 84999. I think it's a really clean looking plate and a simple black and white scheme.

I was interested to see what other states have to offer.

Thanks so much for posting this... I've been wondering about this for years now, everytime I see one of those vintage plates, I always think, how do they do they those tiny plates?

So far as I know, in NY State Classic cars can keep their original plates of the day... but don't quote me on it. We do have vanity plates, like mine, and also plates that represent various regions of the state. You can add sport team logos and organization emblems to plates etc etc.

My plate looks something like this:

Benefits the Mass 9/11 fund. Unfortunately you can't get the design on a vanity plate (not that I'd pay the obscene $100/year to have a vanity plate in MA).

To use old plates in WA you have to have a old car.

    Here are the other plates...

We don't get older style plates, but for any car more than 25 years old you can register for an antique plate and then you don't ever have to pass emissions again. Its nice because now all the old muscle cars are all antique-plate-worthy, and so you could have a daily driver that runs terribly but has ridiculous power

Also we have a bunch of other random plates that you can get, college and groups and so on.

The one I'd like to see most of all is the special plates for veterans and medal winners. In Georgia if you have a car and you've been awarded the medal of honor, you can get a special license plate with just 1 character on it. Talk about special.... Then again, normally that which those men have done to get the medal deserve something far better than that.

Massachusetts does this-they have purple heart, bronze star, pretty much all the major military designations have a special plate.

Damn, my plate is 5 digits, but is over 84,999 . I was gonna do that also because it looks so clean, and better then the green/blue backing here.

That looks cool! Too bad it's smaller than the regular plate because now you've got those scratches from the orig. plate exposed.

Nothing a little buffing can't fix, I hope. If not, then I'm getting out the spray paint.
