As far as a RR motor, why not just look for the oil filter.. if its near the strut tower it is NON RR.
If oil filter is on the back of the block it IS A RR motor.

Now for the Roller/Rocker arms. They have a rolling pin(Two part rocker arm with a rolling pin, vs. one part rocker on non RR motor) on them which results in smoother high RPM operation..IE: wont fly off and break from over revving.
If any of you have ever broke a rocker arm from a misshift or over rev, you know what im talking about.
As for the JDM valve cover on a US motor, im not sure, just line up the ports visually, see what lines up. and EGR block off plates can be made.

Sorry for the thread revival, but wanted to clear some things up.
Sorry, but NOT true. Mine is a 2000+ RR-motor, EUDM, and the oil filter is near the strut-tower. You will find that most EUDM RR-motors are like that....

Ok, so the Euro motor is different, just like the suspension and whole bunch of other things.
My post was in general for USDM motors.

I have done some extensive comparing between EUDM and USDM/CADM when I lived in Canada and had my Primera Wagon with me. Look carefully at the license-plate in my sig, pics were taken in Toronto. Difference is really not that much, engine-wise. Almost anything that fits the USDM /CADM-motor, also fits the EUDM and vv. My car proves it, almost every modded engine-part comes from the US (or Japan...).

You cant post and say that your statement is for usdm only, fact is the title doesnt say that, next fact is my car was made in Japan and shipped to the Caribbean and sold in 2001 and it has a RR engine but my valve cover most definitely is designed like the non RR, i know its RR because i lifted the cover when i first got the car during my tune up.

look at the engine pic on this page and u will see

Did some work on my car today here are some pics

the cover looks like a non RR by the descriptions given

But as you can see it is RR

Not sure if this has been covered, but noticed the first post has some misinformation.
Some Side Notes: A non RR VC will not fit a RR motor, but you can fit a RR VC onto a non RR motor. Why you ask?
Non-Roller Rocker VC will work on a roller rocker, you just need to use the black box (or something else). You cannot use an RR VC in a regular DE or VE. The RR VC baffles sit too low and will hit oil squirters on DE/VE. Now you can try to modify the RR VC (beat the baffles in) and then you might be able to use RR VC in a DE, but at that point just get a VE VC for your DE.

Start a new thread please. Also check for RR part outs.
