    Infiniti Check Engine Codes

Can someone make this a sticky?

    http://www.troublecodes.net/infiniti/

    Infiniti
    Without OBD II

On G20 models, the ECU is located behind the center console. On J30, M30 and Q45 models, the ECU is located behind the RH kick panel.

If a malfunction occurs within the ECU/fuel injection system, a diagnostic trouble code may be stored in the ECU and the ‘‘Check Engine’’ lamp will blink. There is also a lamp built into the ECU which will concurrently blink. To read Code output, proceed as follows:

    1. Turn ignition On, but do not start engine.
    2. Using a small screwdriver, turn diagnostic mode selector switch, located on side of ECU, fully clockwise.
    3. Wait two seconds, then rotate switch to full counterclockwise position.
    4. A malfunction code can be read as the long (0.6 second) blink, indicating the first digit of a two digit number and the short (0.3 second) blink, indicating the second digit.

Ensure that the diagnostic switch is to the full counterclockwise position whenever the vehicle is in use.

    w/OBD II

On G20 and I30 models, connect a suitable Scan Tool to the DLC, located under instrument panel fuse box cover.

On J30, Q45 and QX4 models, connect a suitable Scan Tool to the DLC, located under or on lower portion of instrument panel.

    Clearing Codes

If using a scan tool, follow tool manufacturer’s instructions to clear Codes.

A second, though more time consuming method of clearing Codes involves using a small screwdriver to turn the diagnostic mode selector switch, located on the side of the ECM/ECU, fully clockwise. After waiting two seconds, rotate the switch to the full counterclockwise position. The diagnosis will end and memory will then be cleared.

No need for the sticky really as just knowing the codes means nothing without knowing how to find out the cause.

    www.phatg20.net

OBD-I codes are the two digit ones at the top...

They have been posted on here before. http://www.g20.net/forum/showthread....&threadid=3423

And some I found ages ago... http://www.g20.net/forum/showpost.ph...05&postcount=4

    Look for consult interface systems.

    http://www.g20.net/forum/showthread.php?t=23444

And there is the self contained one at the sr20forum store.... http://store.sr20forum.com/forum/ind...8fd7485c524f4f that can be used on it's own for certian stuff or connected to a computer and use the same software as in my thread...

It would be good if also the codes for the Euro-cars would have been included
There is a whole bunch of codes for CVT-equipped cars for instance. Not all cars on this forum are US-versions. I will try to post some codes as soon as i can.
I'm right in the middel of that....

I am getting error code P1320 which according to this post is FPCM.

Anyone know what FPCM is, and what I have to do to fix this problem?

Its "ignition signal, primary", your looking at the one above it.

    P1320:

    Malfunction is detected when:
The ignition signal in the primary circuit is not entered during engine cranking or running.

    Items to check:
Harness or connectors (the ignition primary circuit is open or shorted).
    Power transistor unit
    Resistor
    Cam position sensor
    Cam position circuit

I have a '95 and it has the check engine light on. I need to find out how to read the codes. I am NOT going to pay to have the codes read when I can get it done myself. I have pulled the kick panels off on both sides, I am seeing a socket in the fuse panel access. Again this is a '95 G20 with a manual transmission. I have looked under the dash and felt around behind the centre console. There is no screw. Any advice will be greatly appreciated.
