    New guy here looking around.

Hey to all in the forum. Just wanted to jump in here and introduce myself. My name is Paul Brouillette and I live in Lafayette, LA. I just got my G last week and have already gotten alot of info from here. I got the idea to come here from my people at ZCAR.com. I also own a 1977 Datsun 280Z, a 1968 Datsun Roadster and a 1972 Datsun 510 with a Ka24de engine in it. Anyway, the car I bought is a really clean '93 model with 105000 miles on it. The engine was blown so I am in the process of replacing it with a junkyard engine. Of course this is turning out to be more exoensive than expected but I want to do it right. I was going to rplace the seals and gaskets at first but then I realised I needed motor mounts, rack boots, clutch set, tune up. I want to do it right the first time but it's kinda scary not even knowing if the junkyard engine will run. I figured it looked good inside the head and these are really durable engines if trated right. I am using ALL Nissan/Infiniti parts. I painted my valve cover basecoat clearcoat pearl bugundy and am really cleaning up the interior of the engine bay. I will post pix later. Cool, well I'll be checking in here every day and hope to geep my G along time. Thanks, Paul

welcome Paul. Instead of replacing your 1993 with a SR20DE, you may want to look into a SR20DET. That's the turbo engine....very popular replacement and about 200 horsepower +/- in stock form vs. the anemic 140 horsepower the car came with.

Oh, noticed you are part of the minority on this forum being born in the early 70's. I'm with you sir. Lots of young fella's on here...they help keep me young. (thanks guys).

Thank y'all for the welcome. I will post some pics. You gotta see the inside of the burnt engine. It took Easy off oven cleaner and a pressure washer to clean the inside of the valve cover! I would go turbo but not right now. I just want to get it running reliably and maybe later I will go DET. I will do some cosmetic mods like lowering, wheels, spoiler, tint, etc... Just looks like it will be a fun car overall. Paul

why rebuild thte engine.. its probably cheaper to buy one with under 50k miles for $400.

    and welcome to the board.

I am replacing it not rebuilding. It is not worth rebuilding. Paul
