Why do i hear my Rpm's in my radio

I think the old p10 is having electrical problems. I could hear my rpm's through the radio at minimum volume. as the rpm's get higher the noise gets louder also...what is the cure for this?

if aftermarket is playing a role in this, the nosie u are hearing is normally from having...say the RCA & the amp power line close together, OR you have interference on one of the wires....your radio will pick up almost any good frequency, ex. when cell phone is about to ring you here the ....buzzzz. buzz. buzz

It's because theres a ground difference between your amp and your head unit. Should be fun to fix

i get the same thing. the amp gets power right from the battery, and the h/u gets it from the normal wiring (i believe).

what about those ground filters you can get from Radio Shack? Would that work?

That could help, but not neccesary. It is usually a ground issue that needs to be solved. It is best to try and reground hu and amp.

    +1

Sounds like a grounding issue to me too. Reground everything and you should be ok. And if you need a grounding kit, check my sig, im doing a GB on them.

Aww crap seems to me that I see a lot of potential problems that were mentioned..
    1. My ground terminal is loose ie. after you nut and you start to deflate and condom starts slipping off. ----so i put zip ties to hold down the ground wire connecting to the battery.
    2. I disconnected my amp and woofer so my wires are just dangaling in the trunk.

If this wont work out im going to get Mautai916 ground kit

that is one possability, but most likly it's a weak battery. see the battery "fliters" out most of the elcetrical junk, but as the batt gets older the stuff(not sure what its called) comes off the plates in the batt and some of the junk comes through.

what you are hearing is the alternator.

make sure your amp wire isn't real close to your plug wires, or distributor...if its not, then you got a bad ground...somewhere!

I actually have been having the same issues...whenever my radio is on and I have my cell phone holder plugged into the charger, I hear a slight "whine"...it's only at the lower rpms though and it goes away after that.....my holder has a speaker too and it makes awful noise when connected to the cig ligher slot.....my battery is fairly new........I wonder if I should just reground it.....

I redid the ground on my head unit. I have a Sony unit and it was spliced into the factory wiring. I snipped that ground, then grounded it right to the metal beside the radio, where the 4 screws hold the radio in. Still have the same problem.

Doesn't matter what I play, AM, FM or the CD Changer i still get the whine.

Like I said before, the amp (in the trunk) gets the power right from the battery. The radio power from the stock wiring. The amp has a big black ground cable, but where its ground I don't know. It goes to the drivers side up over the rear suspension tower someplace. Is there a good ground in the trunk someplace that I can add another ground?

As far as I can tell, the RCA cables from the h/U goes down the passenger side to the trunk, to the amp.

Oh i noticed there is a big ground in the trunk, underneath the carpet! Can I connect the ground to this? Then the ground from the amp will be less than 2'.
