My complaint is that this decision was arbitrary. This thread, with many comments from Dave, much emotion, is still open:

    http://www.g20.net/forum/showthread.php?t=75968

I agree with p@'s initial posts on this thread. Keep the rules simple: no porn, no disrespect. I think you get into big trouble when you just cut off stuff you don't like- THAT is disrespectful. My pet peeve is where a bunch of pics are posted, then people keep reposting the pics over and over to add, like "+1". Makes it hard to read the post and has to take up a lot of unnecessary server space.

Again, if someone is gonna police anything that is "political" or "emotional," then Gnet will become a pretty boring place.

Isn't that the premise of "Minority Report"? If you want to eliminate threads before they turn into a problem, you've got your work cut out for you. My request is to be consistent about it. Otherwise, your decisions start to look "political."

I dont know where you saw any posts in that thread by me???
What would you like me to do here? Open the other one back up? Close the other one?
    My old Feedback

Just don't use the BFH unless you absolutely have to. Power is in restraint. Better to err on the side of letting a thread run than to close it prematurely. Most of these "political" threads die on their own after awhile anyway. I'd save the veto for when things get out of control-

While setting up speed bumps and governors prevent people from speeding, I'd rather have an open road and no governor, get the ticket when I'm speeding.

Sorry, I thought you had posts there- maybe it was in this thread. Looking thru my posts, I guess I must have a warped idea of entertainment. Actually, I'm just avoiding work on my taxes.

"This is also a privately owned forum, keep in mind that you do NOT have the freedom to say and do as you wish. We try to keep an open mind with any and all topics discussed here. If things do get out of line, the staff will put people in their place as we see fit, if you don't like it, tough, we try and be fair with our dealings, sometimes things do get out of hand and nine times out of ten its the individual that needs change."

I stand behind the staff with their decisions to close threads without question.

I can't believe people are wanting to nit pick every detail of this forum. We have a very open forum, with a very small list of exceptions, political type threads being one of them.

With that in mind, look forward for a COMPLETE breakdown in detail of rules, guidelines and policy's for usage on the forum. If you don't like them, tough, move on.

I'd hate to lose users by doing this but with this much complaints over 'open guidelines', we'll have to move to the next stage.

    Meant for Lysander...
I know from previous threads that turn political you usually chime in but you do a good job and simply stating your ideas and not letting emotion get in the picture. Most likely due to the fact that with age comes wisdom usually. Unfortunately the problems usually arise when (blanket statement) a younger more opinionated person comes along and gets over-zealous about their idea to the point of getting angry and taking this personally.

I'm not college educated at all but I was always taught that the whole idea of winning a debate was to prove your point without pissing someone off. Yesterday I happend to see that thread and clicked on it because I was in the military as well. I read and just got a vibe that is was gonna turn sour so thats why I closed it. If I was in a position to be on here more often like I used to be then I would have let it go on and monitored it. Unfortunately I'm working 60 to 70 hrs a week now delivering mail so great money but my forum time is very limited. Basically I have a small window to scan the new threads of the day and make sure there are no issues.

I guess we'll leave off with this, Point taken, and I'll keep in mind what you've said. Fair enuf?

I like it the way it's been. If it's not broken, don't fix it. This feels like a change for the worse. However, I'll stick to the rules when you clearly define them.

    See my PM.

I too got that same vibe, and I don't know why there would be a complaint about it being closed

Just a general statement that I greatly appreciate the moderators/administrators of Gnet and their wisdom. I worry sometimes about the future of G's in general and G-net in particular, seeing as how the cars aren't being made any more. That might be a good topic for a thread.

Leaving these threads open means I don't have to work on my taxes.

Welcome to the forum Jay-R! You list Toronto as your location? You mean Toronto, Ontario Canada? If so , GREAT! There are tons of Gnet members here in T.O. and the GTA! We actually hook up for meets on a regular basis during the year. We try to do monthly meets. Doe a Search for 'SOG' Southern Ontario G20's. Or look for any of my posts - I keep a link to the last or next SOG meet coming up. IF you want, PM your # and we'll talk! I'm the unofficial go-to guy for the SOG's

Welcome aboard.. remember, politics and religion are evil so do not mention word one else the e-hammer will come down and smash your thread. I know, its election time you say but @#*^&# the elections, let anarchy rule. Hopefully you are an atheist too so we won't have to cut those pesky religious zealot threads down to shreds. Viva la Revolucion! *oh wait, that is political*
