Would anyone know why my US 2001 P11t use the PY21W (581) bulbs for the turn signals? It's the same as what's listed for the Primera P11. The bulb is marked PY21W. I went in to Autozone looking at the 7440 bulbs which are listed for the US P11, and they aren't even close to the same type.

What's the deal with CHMSL on the G20t (the one in the spoiler)? Mine stopped working, but looks like its a bunch of LED's. Ok.... So, do you replace the whole unit or is there something else I should be checking first?

    Thanks.

You'd have to replace the entire unit, if indeed it's the issue. However, 99% of the time, the LED brake light bar is not the issue. Instead, it's broken wires in the wire harness that provides power to all the lights on the trunk lid itself. The wire harness is located on the passenger side trunk hinge. Sometimes the break in the wire(s) is quite obvious, and the outer rubber protective sheath is cracked as well, and you can see the broken wires. Other times the sheath is still intact, and you can't see the broken wire(s). In this case, you'd need to do a continuity check on each wire. The best way to do this is to remove the wire harness, and check it. Actually, I lie, you don't need to take out the harness, you can just check for voltage with the harnes in place using a multimeter. You'd need to check this by first disconnecting the harness on the trunk end. It's a white 6 pin connector. However, you might need a second person to be inside the car to depress the brake pedal. You might as well check all the wires as well, because this same harness provides the power to the reverse lights

In my case, my LED light bar was to blame. Mine wasn't working, I saw the crack in the protective sheath, so I replaced the harness. But my LED light bar still wasn't working! So when I took the light bar out, I saw the issue. Somehow water got into it, and shorted out one of the diodes inside it. The two halfs are ultrasonically welded together, and I tried opening it up without destroying it, but I couldn't. Luckily I found a used light bar. Brand new, they go for $250-300! Yikes!!

FYI, there's been a few separate threads on this very topic. I've posted pics of the harness and where the break occurs. Unfortunately, I can't remember the exact thread(s) at the moment.

    Arrow Vanity Light Bulbs

To answer that age old question, "What type of bulb is used in the visor vanity lights?"

I got curious the other day and decided to find out! They are called a fuselamp (fuse lamp). It looks like this:

The dimensions are 6mm diameter & 29mm long. And according to my P11 FSM, they are 8 watts.

The closest sized bulbs out there are festoon bulbs, but they are 8mm x 31mm. and the diameter of the glass portion is often larger than 8mm (they bulge out in the middle) and there really isn't alot of room for anything larger than 6m IIRC. I took pics with my cell phone, but can't seem to d/l or send them from it. Crappy pics anyhow.

Next Question people will ask, where can I get an LED version. Answer - Nowhere. I called up superbrightleds.com and spoke with the them. The guy I talked to is a car nut with a Honda (we'll forgive him for that) but he said he too would love to go LED for these bulbs, but they're not available. He said he's going to harass his management again about finding some. He's received alot of requests.

Another solution? Possibly! I scrolled through flea-Bay and I think I may have found a bulb that will work. I ordered a pair, and just waiting on them. The only issue is the ones I ordered are an 8mm diameter & 31mm long, and I think that might be too big. I'm sure I can pop them in, just not sure if they'll stay in. I'll keep you all posted!
