    Replacing Revolution Sensor

I am going to be replacing the revolution sensor on a 2000 G20T automatic. The question I have, is do I have to drain the transmission oil to do this? Or am I able to replace it without having to worry about any tranny fluid coming out of this opening? (maybe the fluid level is below this, or the fluid isn't even in this area)

    Thanks in advance guys!

So take it no one has done this? Anyone have any idea as to whether or not I need to drain the AT fluid?

thanx, any info helps. where was the sensor located on ur tranny, that could help me with seeing if they are "similar" in the sense of a lil fluid coming out.

was the sensor located towards the back of the tranny on the driver side basically horizontal or somthing?

the revolution sencor on the qg18 trans is on thbck of the trans above the l/s axel opening. I think yours will be diferent. If im not busy at work i will try to check the assist for axact location of it.

sounds a lil different. I know the sensor on the SR is located on the rear of the tranny (facing back) not sure exactly how high, i think it in the upper middle. I haven't taken a look just from the FSM.

For future reference for anyone. Replacing the Revolution sensor will cause roughly 2qt. of fluid to spill out of the opening (possibly all over your face, ick)

It might be a good idea to drain it, but still possible to not. Also the sensor is "locked" into place by the O ring, so some force will be needed to take it off.

I would drain it all out, replace the sensor, and refill.

one problem koojo. A lot of autos only drain 1/2 the fluid the hold. removeing something may just still leek onother 2 qts. the average nissan auto holds like 8 qts in all with converter but only about 4 are drainable
