    Talking MOT passed today......(3)

    Last years.... http://www.g20.net/forum/showthread.php?t=42789

    Still a couple of advises...
    • Rear brake pipe slightly corroded
    • Rear brake/handbrake effort low

    Look familiar

The lambda was still dropping as the cat warmed up and the idle CO was dropping but they were low enough to pass so the test ended and recorded those figures.

    Full emissions readings.

    Idle....

    CO 0.28% (max allowed 0.30%)

    Fast idle....
    CO 0.05% (max allowed 0.20%)
HC 10 ppm (max allowed 200 ppm)
    Lambda 1.023 (range allowed 0.970-1.030)

Was your air freshener also new? With at least half of the aroma remaining?

nice job mark. looks like they're tightening up the restrictions though, eh? isopropyl alcohol always makes a good inspection emissions fix

Nope, the reason for the lower limits was that he selected the std cat test. The vehicle specific test would have brought up the larger limits but they always use the general one and then if it fails that they then see if the specific test has a bigger allowance.

I just get around that here, in PA if you drive less than 5,000 miles since the time of your previous emissions you are excempt.

Just making fun at all the requirements they have... exaggerating that they will test even the air freshener.

    Ahh I see.

    So which is better ??

A country that tests every car over 3 years old to make sure the brakes work and the pipes and flexis aren't leaking/split/rusted through; the body isn't rotten around the suspension mountings; all the lights work; the suspension isn't about to fall apart....etc

Or where you can drive a car that could have anything wrong with it..

Now you're travelling at 70mph with your family. Which would you feel safer with ?? You may still maintain your car even though it's not tested, but can you say the same about the car at the side of you/in front of you/behind you ??
